  1. not by the VIN on a '70 unfortunately. there is a thread where we were looking at tranny tag info vs known engine types. Can't remember what conclusions were reached though. How do you know it is a BB car?
  2. Would be an awesome story if it made its way home
  3. I believe my stock fan is 7 blades and it does have a clutch. I can get a number off of the carb when I get home from work if you like. It is a quadrajet, not sure on the #
  4. The cases on the 200 are thinner than the 700. That is why the 200 never came stock in trucks. There are two cases for the 700 also. If you go with the 700 try to find a "K" case. There is a "k" on the outside of the tranny case. They were thicker than the standard 700 case.

If you place your mouse pointer over a shout, it should show you in a screen tip format.
  6. mine is CRN on block & buildsheet. The resto pack I got from GM says CRN for '70 ss monte...
  7. Looks like Deb & I are not going to make it. Too many things going on and too few funds. We are going to try and make the Langley mini-meet still.
  8. I had a tranny freight shipped for right at a $100. It was on a pallet. Might get it cheaper if it were in a smaller box.
  9. If you plan on cruising it at all, I would recommend nothing more than 3:55's. When I bought mine it had 4:11's and at 50mph it was turning about 3300 rpm
  10. Welcome!! At least it's questions you're full of as opposed to me...
  11. What is it with the requirement to bleed anyway? never fails...
  12. You have no idea how much I can relate!! I swear my car hates me!! I threw a 2.5lb dead blow farther than a wanted to walk to get it back the other day.
  13. My understanding is yes, alphabetical and font should be consistent with what you see on the ones posted here too I think.
  14. Ditto what Dan said on the inspectors. I have used them twice and it was a complete waste of money. Use the money for a plane ticket or even play the lottery with it and you are better off. I had friends that used a different company and theirs was worse than mine. They told the inspector they were looking at a non-numbers matching Chevelle that had a BBC transplant with a conversion from auto to M-22. The report came back with a note: "If you don't buy this REAL DEAL LS-6 4 speed, I am!"
  15. Is there a way to determine/guesstimate the g's on a pull like that?
  16. Wow Dave!! Are you using a catapult system from an aircraft carrier?
  17. I haven't heard of one either. There was a guy on ebay selling them though. You send the particulars and he would make it, aged and all. He could even put seat spring stains on them. Just gotta do a real good visual under the car and hope the traces are all there like Tony was saying. Where in Oregon are you?
  18. you titled the thread "3 speed th350 hum", what is it in?
  19. did you swap to a 350? I thought you were running a 700.
  20. what rear gears? what rpm's at say 40 or 50 mph? he has checked for fuel leaks? Scoot the seat forward and check real good under the tank. Does he have the saddle bag side tanks? Does he have a tranny temp gauge? Could be slipping excessively.
  21. Very nice. Love the timeline pics. Welcome!!
  22. Very nice work, never would have thought you did that in your garage. Throw your pic in the Mugs thread in the non-tech forum.
