  1. After a few months of defining a Gauge Pod friendly to our 1st Gen Montes, it finally arrived though the mail yesterday! Was a little apprehensive as a whole lot of info and ideas were shared for this design. Spent a bunch of time discussing mounting location, Gauge Pod fastener concepts let alone determining the dimensions of Pod, under dash contours and Dash surface area available for mounting. Well today I can say it was a GREAT success! It is mounted under dash just waiting to be wired. I selected the location where I was most comfortable with, chalked out the borders and determined fastener location. Once satisfied I attached (2) Clips to underside of dash where face end of Pod will be secured. (This was a idea I had to make mounting a little quicker). A bridge was built just back from Pod face that spanned Pod face end and was located in such a fashion that to secure Pod to under dash, Pod is held up against under dash forward of clips and then slid back where clips slip under bridge aligning/positioning it while holding it securely. The Pic's are more explanatory. I also spent extra time creating a mount for my MP3 Radio Jack where I can plug in my MP3 player and listen from radio. Handy when there are no radio signals and your radio is stock! Spent about 4 1/2 total hours on it. Wouldn't have taken so long but because I wanted to take notes, pic's and evaluate concepts, this is the time spent. The depth of the Pod is deeper than would actually be needed but in light of having the Gauges / wiring hidden from view, I elected to keep depth as is. Here is what it is: These are the clips that secure, align and position Pod in location: Here is the Pod shown with bridge across face end that clips pick up when sliding Pod back toward firewall: Here is the Gauge Pod secured into position where it will be located: (Footnote) I haven't decided if I will secure "L" brackets to rear of Pod as yet. The clips hold so well, I am kicking around the idea of just adding some thin shims each end at rear of Pod adding more resistance for any possible up/down movement of pod when driving. Easy to remove / easy to replace Pod without using any tools! Tomorrow the wiring! Doug
  2. Mine is the TH400 bracket as identified from your link and like others have stated, mine is attached to the oil pan bolts 2 places. I would suspect you need the TH350 bracket also bolted 2 places to the oil pan/transmission but your shift linkage may have been different creating your assembly problem. You probably need a pic of the TH350 shift linkage/bracket assembled to tranny to know if yours is compatible. Doug
  3. I'm gonna go out on a limb here Aaron and guess it will be a Monte Doug
  4. See if this helps Brett. I had a stock photo when I pulled my dash cap off. This is one of the front speakers still connected to speaker and at harness. Mine show both sides as Green/Black. Does the connector appear to be the same? See additional pic's as reference. Front Speaker Connected: Front Angled Left Side Dash Speaker: Front Speaker Brackets: Two Front Speakers (Angled Magnet Left Front Speaker): Hope they help! Doug
  5. Very nice Aaron! You are a true Monteholic But getting rid of the 72? Enjoy and keep it a secret which one you roll into the WM with. The suspense will add more flavor! I don't know how to do this myself but if anyone knows how, we should start a thread by voting on which car is Aaron going to show up to the WM with. Doug
  6. With all the work done since you started this project Jacob, you must have a great sense of accomplishment getting to this point. My congratulations! Doug
  7. Started cleaning engine bay and adjusted carb choke as fast/cold start idle was erratic. Continued with carb mixture screws and finished at carb idle adjustment. Think I solved it! Planning to continue more needs as time permits. Doug
  8. Not clear if registration mailing done together or in batches. What I was told when I inquired if for what ever reason, packet wasn't received, left or lost, you will still be able to register at event with your info on record at the event. So I guess these are the 2 ways to confirm you are registered for that event. A member had received his info packet several months ago while it appears the majority are getting them closer to the event. Mine came last week! Doug Doug
  9. Checked the mail today and mine were also delivered. Confirm hotel reservations next and am set! Doug
  10. To Hot today to do anything on the car. Think I will just find a cool spot and relax with a beverage Doug
  11. Yeah Chris, but the good looking one is on the left! Boy, that was a HOT day! Not certain but we could have gone to different schools together too! Doug
  12. Hope it all works to your favor Chris. See you in Spokane! Doug
  13. Installed new Chrome Monte Carlo License Plate Frames (Rear with Oregon Plate & Front with FGMCC Plate). Not sure if front legal in Oregon but am going to find out. Because my vehicle is registered as SP (Special Interest), only one rear plate issued. Needed to fill up front bumper with something and what better than FGMCC! Doug
  14. Hey Matt, I registered back in the 1st part of February and haven't received anything but my Good Guys Membership some time ago. I finally located their phone number and thought I should confirm Registration. She said the Event Packets were to be mailed early July. Doesn't sound like they are on the same page with each other. Doug
  15. 2013 Western Meet Registration Update! I just finished contacting Good Guys asking about when we should receive our Event Registration packet. I was informed they will be mailed out early July. So all should have them in advance of the Good Guys Great Northwest Nationals Event. FYI: In the event you had not received or misplaced your packet, not to worry. As long as you know your Good Guys Membership Number, you will be confirmed at the Event. To contact prior to event: (925)838-9876. See ya all there Doug
  16. It is my understanding the 72 Customs came standard with the Drivers Side Remote Sport Mirror. My Build Sheet from my 72 Custom denotes D35 - L/H Mirror and was built in Van Nuyes, CA. Haven't heard any with a Repop Passenger side Sport Mirror. I found a passenger side Sport Mirror that was pretty close to what I needed for that side. Did some shaving of the base bottom and got it where it needed to be. Unknown what it had originally came off of and you have to look pretty closely to notice any difference from the driver side mirror. Those can be had fairly cheaply and aren't that difficult to change the base angle for fitment. Just need to locate one that you can work with! Doug
  17. Replaced TH400 Tranny fluid pan with another fitted for a Tranny Temp Sensor. Repainted my Driver/Passenger Arm Rests and added chrome trim to each. Reassembled and installed Arm Rests. Painted and installed the Front Seat Harness Guards. Adjusted Rear Center Tail Panel Molding for better secure fit. PICS............... I have been told, without pic's it didn't happen! Doug
  18. FYI, Has anyone received any literature confirming registration for the Good Guys Event in Spokane? I thought we were to get something in the mail validating registration. Getting closer and trying to get all my ducks in a row! Doug
  19. Thanks for bringing that to our attention Sam. I Totally glossed over that detail! Doug
  20. If sat for a long period of time without operating A/C, the compressor seals do dry up and can loose Freon. Might consider buying a recharge kit (relatively inexpensive), recharge the system and see how it goes from there. Might be as simple as the Schrader valve leaking. If not familiar with the A/C operation and can't determine any leak, might consider taking to Qualified A/C Shop and have them find leak (if there is one). They should be able to provide you with problem and also quote for repair. More expensive way to go, but in the long run you will have it repaired and a warranty if any further problems with the work they did. Doug
  21. Replaced shoulder harness belts with correct ones, replaced front grille crest emblem and ordered interior paint for my front door arm rests and any other interior stuff that might need attention. Looks like rain is a coming so put the car away until more favorable weather. Doug
  22. Gave her a bath, oil change and lubricated hood hinges. Tightened oil pan and valve cover bolts. Tomorrow will replace visor mounts, add a strip of chrome on each front door panel arm rest and maybe a vacumm on carpets. Doug
  23. Glad it all worked out for you Cory. Doug
  24. Hey Cory, Went thru all my parts boxes today TWICE and was not able to find that map/mirror housing. Every piece is gone for it! I have looked thru these boxes so many times, organized, moved things around and each time that Map Light / Mirror would turn up. I can't even imagine what happened that they are gone now. I will continue thinking and see if a bell goes off in my head. Sorry I was'nt able to locate it but keep fingers crossed I will remember what I did with it. I was keeping it for parts!! Doug
  25. I think the only way to know for sure is to drop the oil pan and look. Casting numbers did'nt determine if 2 or 4 bolt mains. If motor taken from a truck, chances were better for a 4 bolt. Doug
