  1. In case anyone else needs to know, it looks like this is a an AGA 5amp fuse
  2. Can anyone who has this feature (the vigilite) working tell me what head lamps they are using. I thought the fiber line for the head lamps must be bad because that portion of the system does not work but the parking/turn lights work and the head lamps are in fact working. Further investigation shows that the fiber line runs to the center of the head lamp plug (see picture) and is expected to pickup light from the center of the backside of the bulb. However, these Sylvanias (and others I looked at in the local AutoZone) have a small metal ball sealed in the center of the bulb. The combination of the sealer and the metal ball prevents much (if any) light from shining out the back of the bulb where the optic line is and thus no light up on the fender.
  3. Does anyone know what fuse goes in the inline fuse holder for the under hood light?
  4. I did call them and although they will plate small parts, they can't do pot metal parts. In case anyone else is in need of platers in the KY/OH area that can do small parts (and pot metal parts), the guy I called at Tri-City gave me the name of an outfit in Cincinnati OH - DG Custom Chrome, and another outfit in Dayton, OH - Metal Brite.
  5. I know some on here have used Tri City Plating in TN to get their bumpers redone but does anyone know of some place that can do smaller parts? I have the light monitor system on a car I am working on and the fender pieces are a bit pitted.
  6. What shocks are correct for the rear of the 1970 SS454?
  7. Thanks for all the input. I will check the fuse and the relay.
  8. I had my car out for a ride yesterday evening and noticed my blower fan did not work on high speed. It works on the other speed just not on high. Can anyone give me an idea where to start looking for the problem?

    Halo top

Rob - Is there a book somewhere that would specify where the studs should be located? He said that he can only see a couple and he is not really sure if they are actually ground off studs or not.

    Halo top

So I have a friend who is looking at buying a 1970 project. The car he is looking at is missing most of the vinyl top and trim. He says it looks like may have been a full halo car originally but it looks like the front trim studs were ground off. So the question he asked me (if he buys the car) was whether he should put it back to full halo or just go with the 1971 style top. I really wasn't sure how to answer because I personally like the full halo look better but I am not sure how difficult it would be to relocate and install the front trim studs. For that matter I am not even sure those can be purchased. Anyway, I thought I would put the question to the group and see what you all thought. Thanks
  11. Hmm, wonder where the bolts on mine came from??
  12. My car has chrome cap bolts both on the face and on the under side. The bumper has square holes in both locations to hold the bolts. See the picture below and notice the face bolts (circled in blue) have a taller profile head than the underside bolts (circled in red). Also notice the difference in the bolts in the second picture. You can see the bolt circled in red (the underside bolt) has a shorter square locking portion and the profile of the head is shorter. The face bolts will not work for the underside as the taller square portion prevents the nut from being able to be tightened. My car has the chrome bolts shown on one side but has standard hex bolts on the other. I was hoping to get the chrome bolts for both sides but I can't find anything except the ones for the face.
  13. I was hoping to replace the bolts on my front bumper as the lower ones on my car are not correct (standard hex head bolt). I bought a set from somewhere (don't remember now where) but they are not right. They match the upper bolts but the lower bolts are supposed to have thinner heads and square shank sections. Does anyone know where I can get the correct ones. Thanks
  14. I would see if there isn't someone who has a set of 71-72 fenders they would trade you for your 70's. Good 70 fenders are pretty hard to find (71-72 seem to be a bit more plentiful). I actually have a set of NOS 71-72 fenders but my car is a 70. Unfortunately, we are not very close so a trade with me probably wouldn't work out. That said, if you decide to keep and use the 70 fenders, why not just remove the core support mounting portion from the 1970 fenders and remove the same piece from your fenders (piece is just spot welded in) and then just swap them.
  15. Pretty sure the ones on the 71 are accessed from inside the trunk but on the 70 they are outside and you have to at least loosen the bumper and let it down a bit.
  16. Since they were only installed on the cars with the factory air shocks (the G67 air ride system), I always thought they were there to protect the bladders of the air shocks from rocks and road debris.
  17. I don't like the stance of that car at all. It might be the fender skirts creating an optical illusion but it looks as though it is running a slight reverse rake which in my mind is just ugly.
  18. Here is a couple of pictures. The first is of some I had on the shelf. The rest are of the ones on my car.
  19. My 1970 SS has both the over the valve cover bracket and the lower bracket.
  20. Thanks guys I really appreciate it. I am not entirely sure when my guy will be able to get to this so I am concerned about buying the wrong thing and having it sit around for a few months before it is used and then figure out it is the wrong stuff. I went to NPD site and found part number C-SF-102, here, for the 1966-1970 Chevelle. I assume that would be the right stuff for my 1970 SS but I am not sure about the "Hog ring bolster cutouts" does anyone know what this is and whether my 1970 SS should be with or without these bolsters? Dan I went to C.A.R.S. Inc's site and found this for the buckets and this for the rear. Can you confirm these are the correct covers for interior code 749
  21. Does anyone know who sells kits (foam, burlap, backs and trim pieces) to rebuild the strato buckets. I want the black cloth seat covers.

    Seat belts

What seat belts were available in the 1970 SS454 with buckets and is meant by "deluxe seat belts"? How do they differ from the non-deluxe (whatever that is)?
  23. So once we get the lock out, what tool do we use to tighten up the rest of the mechanism?
  24. Paul, The setup Darren posted is the same as I have on my all original 70 SS except mine does not have the elbow between the snorkel and the flex tube. I can't really get pictures of mine as my fenders (and inner fenders) are on the car but I can say the heat stove itself is just like what Darren has pictured.
