  7. Now that's helping a brother FGMCC member out !!!
  8. You are dialing in nicely and hope it's running to your expectations. The videos look really good and consistant. Keep up the good work and have fun !!!
  9. Remember to tell the "Chevelle guys" it's a 2 shot of Nitrous !!
  10. Unless your a mechanic and have experience rebuilding rear ends it pays to let a professional install your new gear set for the best results. It is money well spent.
  11. A good transmission or driveshaft shop could assist you with this.
  12. Are you sure the rear you are looking to purchase is an 8.5 ? The 70 GS came from the factory with an 8.2. The 71-72 came with an 8.5. The 8.5 is a stronger rearend. I discussed this with my neighbor who is a Buick fanatic and guru. He owns a 70 GS Stage 1, 4spd and swapped his factory 8.2 with a 3.64 posi to a 71, 8.5 rear with 4.10 and a Grand National posi unit. The GN posi is an Eaton style posi unit.
  13. 800 dollars is a fair price for what you are getting. The housing is the same and will bolt right in. 3:73 gears are a nice street gear if you are using the car for street and occasional track use. The axels are thicker and stronger than a Chevy 10 or 12 bolt. The weak link is the Auburn posi unit and cannot be rebuilt. If your purpose is mainly street driving with a lower HP engine, 450 or under. This should serve you very well. If it needs to rebuilt down the road, most rebuilders are installing a much heavier duty Grand National posi unit for racing use. It all depends on your needs and use will be.
  14. They are getting harder to find nowadays. Not many boneyards have them due to all the FWD cars manufactured today. Some of the high performance transmission builders are charging $250-300 for a core due to this.
  15. My 70 SS came with a 2.56 12 bolt posi in it. It's also on the build sheet.
  16. Excellent articles. Thank you for sharing.
  17. A lot or manufacturers are making multi use applications for their parts. They fit multiple applications and maintain less of a product line, and inventory space, saving $$$.

    Running hot

I will get a chance to measure it over the weekend for you. I am working 16 plus hours a day this week and can't get to it until then.

The core looks very thin, like a 2 core. I have a 4 core and it's almost as thick as the tanks. I'm at work now and not able to measure mine. Maybe somebody has the measurements or could check and post them.
