  1. I got the hood put on mine and took it for a short ride. Still need to adjust he TV cable for the tranny
  2. If Dupont does not have a formula a Dupont Authorized dealer can call the lab and they will get something real close. Another option if the Dupont dealer has a Chromavision or an Acquire camera/spectrograph they can make the color but you need a real good sample to start that process. A piece the size of a business card or larger works the best. If it is faded you will not get a match to the color you want. The voice of experience is speaking about this part of the equation.
  3. I had a problem about 3 weeks ago getting onto this site. Finally did a Google search got on site and deleted my old bookmark and remarked the new search and it has worked since. This happened to me on another site I visit 3 months ago and had to do the same thing.
  4. The bolts on my hood latch are the same size & thread (5/16" x 18 tpi if my memory serves me well enough to remember these technical things) as my bolts for the fender to the core support. However the fender bolts have six point heads while the hood latch bolts are 12 point heads. All six of the bolts associated with the hood latch are the same.
  5. if it is stretched out all the way it is the wrong one fer sure
  6. At a car show in Zionsville IN this past Aug I seen a 1971 Impala who had the cowl induction hood. it was done right. You could not tell it had had the induction added to it. All of the bracing on the underside looked factory. The underside of the hood looked as good as the top side. Very stock looking and super nice job on it..
  7. Any First Gen is a GREAT year
  8. Red 72's are the bestest ones.
  9. I just put some GM performance chrome covers on my 350. Black Chevrolet and red bow tie. Boy they look a whole lot better than those cheap Eldebrock that kept leaking. Thought about the Aluminum ones but then decided the chrome would be easier ot keep clean.
  10. Dav e it had taken me 41 years to get a Monte again. Bought new 70 Sept 20, 1969 my wife bought me my 72 back in Aug, the Mon. before labor day.
  11. There is a rather new product out called Q-Bond. It will glue studs and the back of plastic grills and emblems. I have seen it glue and hold rubber hoses together. At work we have a nut glued to a 2X4 and you cannot break it off. The hose cannot be pulled apart. The kit contains two kinds of powder and something similar to super glue and it does work. The small kit sells for around $15 to $16 but you need to have both parts. If it is cracked then by all means replace as this does not work on patches.
  12. My parents had a care that had a bad battery that did the same thing. After the car got warm it would not start. Sit for a couple of hours and it would. On a side note on that problem, my mother was pregnant and could not drive. Dad would have to park on a hill and mom and I would have to start pushing it down the hill to start it. Dad got called all kinds of names for his pregnant wife pushing the car. LOL LOL LOL
  13. Yep that is where my 72's is mounted
  14. But if it is an internal regulator since you swapped out the ALT. it still could be but not likely. I cannot remember when Delco Remy started using the internal regulator. I remember rebuilding alternators at Delco and if memory serves me correctly the terminals looked like two I's stacked and my terminals look like two I's side by side.
  15. regulator comes to my mind.
  16. At first glance I thought I was looking at Pix of my 72 Monte. Red is beautiful.
  17. aw come on skeerdy cat try it you'll like it
  18. SEM has a trim black that is a satin finish. The part number is 39143 Trim Black. It matches the factory under hood color almost perfectly. I do not know who carries it but I work in an automotive paint store and we do. So that is probably a good place to start looking if that is what you want. I used it on the engine compartment on my 72 it it looks a whole lot better than the flat black that was there.
  19. I finally got the motor and tranny back in my 72. It sure does look good all freshly painted and the engine compartment all detailed and painted. Pix coming if I can remember to take them. I take the camera to the garage and then forget to use it. Must be having some of those brain fart moments and the are happening more often than I want.
  20. Gerson also makes an acceptable respirator. We sell about a case a week of those. They are less than $21 each. They will also last longer if you keep them in their zip lock bag and in the refrigerator. I have kept mine useable for up to a year by using this method.
  21. Took the drive shaft to INDY Rack and Axle today and they shortened it 5/8". They took a measurement on the front of the shaft and said it needed to be shortened at least 1/2". I said what about 3/4" and so we compromised.
  22. Took the tranny to a transmission guy this evening and he said everything looked great so I am ready to reinstall.
  23. No the rear was not hanging. the front was on stands the back wheels were on the ground
  24. When I pulled the motor and tranny out of my 72 my son in-law had to take the cups off of the rear U joint to drop the drive shaft. How much do I need to shorten my drive shaft so that this is not a problem when I reinstall it in a couple of weeks? Even when he took the caps off we still had to finagle it out.
  25. I used a spacer that matched my intake, one large hole in case the smaller holes are different from the carb.
