  1. Congratulations! The most I've done is change a timing chain so you are ahead of me. I know I had a big grin too when I did that. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site

  5. It wasn't an option. The paint doesn't stick to stainless steel well so it tends to come off over time. A lot of people (including myself) have taken the paint stripper to it rather than repainting it. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site If your wife ever says "Come and move this transmission so I can take a bath," You might be a Gearhead.
  6. Yes, I beleive the vinyl roof trim on all first gen Montes were painted the colour of the vinyl. But, only part of it is painted and leaves a bead of chrome around the roof. A lot of people strip it off. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site If your wife ever says "Come and move this transmission so I can take a bath," You might be a Gearhead.

  9. I used the same thing on my dash and steering wheel. You need a steady hand. Make sure you have a cloth and some thinner ready for when you slip. I needed it a few times. It works great. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site If your wife ever says "Come and move this transmission so I can take a bath," You might be a Gearhead.
  10. As far as I know, it is only painted in the small groove that is near the top and down the sides. I wish I had a pic for you. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site If your wife ever says "Come and move this transmission so I can take a bath," You might be a Gearhead.

  13. What do I use to seal the Casing to the firewall (engine side). There was some type of silicone or something before. I'm not sure what type to use. 19. I have heard from other sources that the wider belt molding was an option on the 70 & 71. This 70 has this molding but I'm not sure if they took it off of a 72. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site [This message has been edited by Canuck (edited 04-04-2003).]
  20. That is the stuff Marchie. Lookin' good. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site
  21. When they say "A-body" I always thought that referred to the body shell and not the frame. As we know, the body of a Monte is basically the same as the Chevelle and other A-bodies. Many A-bodies even share the same trunk lid. Also, I took a good look at a Grand Prix last year and it has the same roof line and back window as our Montes and other A-bodies. I'm still confused as to what the "A-body" refers to. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site
  22. straightening is the thing I dread doing. I sent mine back twice and it still isn't straight. They claim to have perfect molds but that isn't always true. I sent mine back twice and it still isn't streight. Get a few opinions from people who experienced the various shops in your area. The place I took it to did awesome chroming though. The local parts guy says he's seen a lot of bad chroming jobs on the cars he's parted out. Beware. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site
  23. So, Lloyd, what swear words do you allow? LOL. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site
  24. My standard ones do not match my sandalwood interior, they're black with a black plastic buckle. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site
  25. I beleive the chrome ones are the deluxe seat belts. I personally prefer the plastic ones. The chrome ones get sooo hot in the summer sun. ------------------ Aaron 1970 Misty Turquoise Monte Carlo My Monte Carlo Web Site
