Toppless72
I'm not too good at creating links but if it works, I believe this will help you. 1971_chevelle_wiring It takes a minute to load but its worth the wait.
stangeba
"I am removing my MSD" What are you replacing it with? If you go with a standard GM HEI you will need to run full 12 volts. If you go back to Points, you will need the resistor. Bruce
Shawn63
Thanks Joe Awesome diagram The help on here is great. Shawn
Shawn63
Hi Bruce When I got the car it had the original point system, and an MSD box. I have heard a loud buzz, humm noise when the car warmed up. We first thought it was the transmission, but it turns out to be the MSD box. I would like to disconnect it and let the original system work. I am thinking of a Pertronix or a HEI at some point when budget allows of course. bigtankjones
I have heard bad thing about Pertronix. Never tried them before. I have just stuck with the good Ole HEI.
Shawn63
Thanks Tony What is a good source for HEI? GM performance or ebay etc. Shawn
stangeba
My two cents on anything "REBUILT" is have your own rebuilt by a small local shop or get a used one from the "Pick A Part" AKA Junk Yard and clean it up. Many many rebuilt items are not done correctly. Bruce
Shawn63
Hi Bruce I agree on that,I worked for Napa for 20 years and have seen many "rebuilt" products come back under warranty. Shawn
Malyc
Topless, you wouldn't happen to have one of those for a '72, would you?
Toppless72
Yep. With warning lamps 1972_with_lamps With Gauges 1972_with_gauges Try these. By the way... My manual shows the Monte Carlo and Chevelle to be the same but if anyone knows of any differences I would like to hear about them.

Toppless72
Thank you. Wiring and wiring issues are my favorite things to troubleshoot on these cars.
