Murphy
In the 'Who's online' box, it shows registered users, guests & spiders..........who's a spider?
ripleydale
I believe it's a program that goes out hunting on the net for new information. Things like search engines (google for example) use them to keep up to date. Not a real person.
Andreas
Spiders are like virtual robots or virtual spiders for that matter. The 'crawl' through your website and look at your website. Good spiders: Search engines use spiders, they look at the building blocks of your website and store in their database that your website exists and can be reached at your domain (www.yourWebsiteAddress.com) and when pple search for things related to your site your site may come up (search engine optimization is another topic) Bad ones: They search for email address in your text and code (including mailto links)and if they find any they spam you -- they spam you a lot
7tonemonte
I've gotten a lot of spam from 2 specific companies on my @fgmcc.com address that way Andreas, have clicked on the "remove" link several times also to no avail. I'd like to find that spider and stomp it!
72-CLASSIC_RIDE
Do you have a Spam folder in your email Tony? If you send unwanted email to it, it is supposed to filter those messages out so you won't keep getting them. That's my understanding. 7tonemonte
Yea Doug most of them end up there, a few get by. Funny thing is it's the only spam I get on that email. Believe it or not I don't get a lot of spam, other email address is loaded with it
