cny first gen 71
I have a chance to buy a professional products harmonic balancer #90001 new in the box for $50.00 A friend of mine bought it for his 400 pont. and it was boxed wrong its actually for a sbc 400 which I have in my garage on a stand and may eventually go into my Monte. Is it worth it? Summit has it listed for about $188.00 I just dont know if its overkill for a mild build.
Sam (Bones)
if you do buy it I would recommend you have your engine re-balanced
LS5
Sam is right, the Flywheel and Harmonic balancer are counter balanced for each other as part of the engine being balanced correct. you cant just throw on a Balancer or hang on baby that engine will vibrate something fierce and want to jump out of the engine bay….. Mike 57
Factory 400 SBCs are externally balanced, unless it is for a 400 I would stay away.

cudax
Replaced mine with a TCI Rattler and it runs smooth as silk. The only issue, which I like, is you can hear the ball bearings settling for just a second after I shut the engine down.
