cny first gen 71
Does any one know if the downshift cable on a 71 350 with th350 is the same on a 2 barrel as 4 barrel. I changed mine over a few years ago and don't seem to be any adjustment on it and it don't kick down when I put my foot into it. Its not a huge deal but just thought I would ask. Thanks
Mike Brichta
Hey Steve, I don't think they are different. The cable does have an adjustment at the section that snaps into the cable bracket on the intake. You have to pry up on the tab which will unlock the adjustment (spring loaded), adjust to where you want it and then push the tab back down again. I don't have a picture to post but I'm sure somebody does. Mike
stangeba
The orange cable is the trans kick down cable. Does this picture help at all? Best I have. 71 original 350 4 BBL with added cruise control. Bruce
stangeba
You may want to first verify that when the gas pedal is on the floor, the carb is at FULL WIDE OPEN! Requires two people. Bruce
71MonteCarloMD
Bruce, that helps as i found mine not connected. Where do i connect it? Rick
stangeba
I assume it depends on what carb you are running now. I have the original quadrjet. Many here have non stock carbs, they will chime in I'm sure. Bruce

71MonteCarloMD
Bruce, thanks as previous owner switched from 2bbl to 4bbl. Will get someone to help me by pressing gas pedal down and carb full open to attach it. Rick
