Rare SS
I love the details and slight differences between the 1970, 71 and 72 Montes. These grille emblems not only just fit the grille for the specific years they came out, but also have slight identifiers in the Roman Numerals as seen at the top of the knight's helmet. (This is also true for trunk emblems in 1971 & 72.) Does anyone know why in 1972, they didn't just add another line beside the numeral for 1971? *There was certainly room for it! Rob Peters
My guess would be cost cutting but I don't know for sure rob
Rare SS
This has stumped me for decades, since my first 71 (in 1981). I'd love to have an answer! (or at least a funny guess?) Anyone? Bueller? 🤪
Scott S.
Nixon had them removed because '71 was his best year in office ????
cny first gen 71
When I got mine originally it had a 72 emblem on it, of course at the time I didn't know the difference. I broke it trying to repair it so I found one on ebay and replaced it that's when I found out the difference.
Scott S.
Most restoration parts places have all three as separate items as well.
