TrunkMatt
So, my mechanic is recommending the following Cam spec's for the 383 I am having built: Hydraulic Cam SAE Duration: INT 288 EXH 298 Valve Lift: INT .444 EXH .466 CAM Lift: INT .296 EXH .311 Break it down for me what to expect. I said I needed something street-able, as I am not going to race this (maybe once in a while at track night for fun). I want something that provides enough vacuum to not have to run a canister, and something that would keep me from needing a new stall converter on my TH350... yet gives me the torque / grunt of my 383 with a nice lope. Good choice of Cam??
Mike 57
Be nice to see the .050 duration

Mike 57
Nice mild cam
TrunkMatt
So it'll fit my needs you think? Have a bit of a lope with decent low end torque & HP... but not cause me to do a million upgrades to support it?
Sam (Bones)
what's the intake centerline and lobe seperation angle?

Mike 57
From your initial statement, the cam sounds like what you are looking for.
CrazyDavey
I agree with Mike, those specs are close to the ole L79 GM cam which is a good runner with a slight lope....

680HPStroker
For the hundredth time call your favorite cam manufacture and get the tech help you need to spec out the proper cam for your application. Make sure the person you are taliking to is at least 30 years old and has is a hot rodder/racer for a long time. There are very few off the shelf cams that are a perfect fit for a given application. If your manufacture doesn't ask you all the details about your car and it's driveline, hang up and call one who does.
TrunkMatt
Precisely why I am having my Mechanic and the guys at PER (http://www.portlandenginerebuilders.com/) handle this for me. I gave them the information I originally wrote on my intended uses and scenarios --- and they provided me the spec sheet I posted. It is a custom cut cam... however, to double-check what I am getting -- I am just curious on everyone else's thoughts on the provided spec. Mr70Monte
its probably one of these 2 cams, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-01003/ or http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRO-00904/ both have your same specs. looks to be a decent cam.
