john57
Hello, My fuel gauge always reads full. Here's what I tried; I disconnected the brown wire connector in the trunk which goes to the sending unit. I'm seeing 12V on the side of the connector going back to the fuel gauge. Is this correct. How can I check if the problem is the sending unit or the fuel gauge. Can I connect a resistor from the brown wire connector (which has 12V on it) in the trunk going to the fuel gauge to ground. I'm thinking maybe the needle should move? This problem just started, it's worked fine for years. Thanks, John
Sam (Bones)
make sure your ground to the sending unit is hooked up
john57
Bones, I connected a 200 ohm rheostat to the brown wire in the trunk which leads up to the fuel gauge and walla the fuel gauge moved as I turned the rheostat. Time to change the sending unit. Best part is I get to cruise around until the tank is pretty much empty! John
cny first gen 71
Keep a 2 gallon gas can in the trunk when you know its starting to get low . When I was doing the same thing I ran out of gas about a mile from home luckly I did have the can in the trunk.

MCfan
Evan, Not sure which page you need. It may be the page shown below. If not, here's the link to a photo file showing each page of the wiring manual for a 1970 MC: http://s912.photobucket.com/albums/ac329/dbengtson4/Wiring%20Diagram%20Manual/
