stickshift
Hey guys, been a while since I posted (like two years or something), but I am finally making some progress with my big block. I should have it in the car and running in a few weeks. We have it sitting in the Dyno room ready for start up. The combo so far consist of a 60 over 454 block, big dome Mahle pistons,Lunati Voodoo camshaft Duration 276/284, Lift .554/.572, noisy gear drive, roller rockers, oval port heads with 2.25-1.88 valves, and an RPM Air-Gap intake. I still have to get a water pump, distributor, Headers, and Carb, It will be on the dyno, I am hoping for some decent numbers. I am posting some pictures, Let me know what you think. Any last minute advise you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

LostnFound
Looking great. I wish to pull my LS5 one day and have it refreshed and have an oil leak repaired. I think I'll keep it mostly stock though as it is pretty powerful anyway and not a race car. I hope it turns out looking that good.
Mike 57
Looks really good! Flat or roller cam? What made you decide on the noisy gear drive? looking forward to some numbers
502ci
Welcome back. Glad to hear you are getting the Monte running, that's one radical cam you listed... Â Any last minute advise you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.[iM Change the "noisy" gear drive now to a quiet one (those are still noisy) while it's still easy... stickshift
Thanks guys, I'm running a flat tappet cam. I have a Pete Jackson noisy gear drive in my small block, and I love the way it intimidates people when I pull up at cruise ins so I decided to run one in my big block. I cant wait to hear how it is going to sound. I went by the machine shop a few days ago so that we could start it up in the Dyno room, but they had a small block stroker motor that they were trying to finish. I will continue to keep you guys posted. Also, will my Super T10 tranny and 3:55 10 bolt be enough? If not what would be a good replacement for the rear end and tranny? Mike 57
If you plan to go to the track and it hooks, I would wonder which one will break first.

Mike 57
I think you are right Sam. Â Drag racers really don't like gear oil.
72 LS5
Looks great! Do you have the cam specs at .050"? Decide on a carb yet?
Machtuck
That's LUN pn 60204. Peak power on the 468 should be right around 6000. Maybe more if your using the lunati springs ( pretty high seat and open press). Looks great! Nice choice on those Mahle pistons....light weight and strong. Do you have the pn on those?
