  1. Wondering if anyone has come across this Monte Carlo. I think it looks really nice. I especially like the blacked out chrome and stainless steel. The Block Monte Carlo
  2. As far as weight goes, does anyone know the difference in weight between a SBC and BBC (assuming both have aluminum heads, intake, etc)?
  3. Thanks Sam. Stroked big block seems to be the answer for big power at a reasonable cost.
  4. Recent topics have debated engine choices. Big block vs small block vs LS. Each choice has it's positive and negative attributes. Choices are made on numerous factors (nostalgia, cost, availability, weight, etc.). If we boil it down to purely money, what would be the best choice "bang for your buck" power plant to reach 600-700 lbs torque / horsepower? I'm saving money and thinking of stroking my existing 350 to a 383 and adding a pro charger. Would it be more cost effective to stroke a big block? Should I start with an aftermarket small block and go for 434 ci stroker? Crate motor? At this point, LS isn't an option for me because I would prefer an old school V8. And I would be sourcing out the work. I'm budgeting $7000 - $10000. Thanks for your input. julius
  5. At the end of the day, I guess it comes down to money and whatever puts a smile on your face while driving. I'm in the same boat. I'm saving money for a new motor. I'm leaning towards stroking my factory 350 to 383 and adding a pro charger.
  6. This thread has been pretty interesting to me since I'm planning on swapping my stock 350 sbc motor out for more power in the near future. I was considering a heavily stroked sbc but after reading some articles / forums, seems like a stroked bbc is the way to go (LS power isn't an option for me). Seems more efficient to produce 600 torque/horsepower from a stroked bbc than a sbc. Less stress on the motor, pump gas friendly, power adder capabilities, and longevity seem to edge out a stroked sbc. Thoughts?
  7. Wow!!!!! Looks great. I prefer to go old school. Not a big LS fan even though they're very powerful engines.
  8. Thanks for sharing your build. I'm on the fence on whether to do a SBC or BBC. Seems like more potential in a BBC for a pump gas street car.
  9. Interesting thread. I'm at the same cross roads. Saving up money now and hoping to have a fresh engine by early next year. I'm leaning towards a stroked small block (427, 434, 440).
  10. Beautiful work Mike. Any advantages or disadvantages to using a fiberglass cowl on a metal hood?
  11. Thanks for the input!
  12. Just wanted some input. I'm planning on painting my '70 in a few months. What do you think of doing Yenko striping without the words or Yenko abbreviations? Thanks.
  13. Just switched over my '70 suspension and brakes with a CPP kit (felt it best kit overall). Was wondering if there's any value in the factory stuff? Or scrap metal?
  14. Wow!!!! Very nice. Congrats on all the hard work.
  15. Arvizu9618: I'm considering getting Procar seats and brackets for my '70 Monte. After reading your post, are the Chevelle brackets a better fit? Jay
  16. BlueMalibu: Thanks for the advice Sir. I guess at this point what it boils down to is cost. I do like the stoutness of the 4L80E. Especially if I add some boost to my stroked small block down the road.
  17. I would like to know what folks think about the 4L80E option.
  18. Winston Wolf: Thanks for the input. I'm trying to get keep my options open. I would rather have an over built transmission if I decide to a super charger or turbos down the road. Looking at CPT's Ultimate 200R ($2700) + lock up torque convertor ($800),things can get pricey.
  19. Placed my order. Awesome customer service. They still offer 5% discount which offsets $15 shipping. Now I have to buy some bucket seats. Any suggestions?
  20. Thanks! Good info. Now I have to figure out which shop I should purchase from.
  21. Awesome thread! Great info and good reading. I really want to put a 200r behind my mild 350 (replacing my TH350, 3.73 rear). My dilemma is I'm planning on replacing my motor next year with a 400+ cubic inch stroked motor (no power adders) and the engine builder doesn't think the 200r can handle the power. Will a stout 200r that can handle 500-600 horsepower / torque work with my current and future set up?
  22. Might be off topic, but how do you remove the front turn signal lens / assembly for a '70? I'm trying to replace my bulb. I removed the two screws that secures the metal bracket on the outside of the lens but it doesn't budge. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm a newbie.
