  1. Well, through some wheeling and dealing, I will be upgrading to a refurbished posi carrier, new gear set/ bearings/ seals and install kit for 525. Now as long I can set it up right..life will be good lol
  2. Hey Andy, thnaks for the offer, but this is for my Tahoe, not the monte, but you can send the autograph just so the sharpie gets used lol
  3. Well...it's apart...and it ain't pretty. Missing about 5 teeth off the ring gear and the left side carrier bearing sheared off the carrier....never seen that before....so it basically needs every thing. Maybe I'll grab the wifey's camera and take some pics of the carnage tomorrow (mine had an unfortunate encounter with a tile floor). Gotta price everything out tomorrow, but hoping a posi upgrade is in the budget. As for finding a used axle...the yard I deal with pretty much laughed when I asked....apparently they all blow up, but he did offer to rebuild mine for 800, and from what prices I've looked at online, it's not that horrible considering what the parts are goin for....we shall see what tomorrow brings lol
  4. Nothing yet...gotta finish up other jobs first, and just have not had any time...plus I don't hate driving the monte daily
  5. Well, it looks like I will be doing my first rear rebuild/upgrade. Not by choice, the rear in my 99 Tahoe has had enoungh....clunking noises are never good lol. While I am at it, I plan to upgrade to a posi unit of some sort just for the fun of it. Any tips, pointers, harassment, any kind of input is welcome. I'll just call it practice for when I step the monte up to 3:73's lol Jim
  6. Where's the pics of the carnage??
  7. Found it !!! Anyone else think he did this on purpose just so he could rebuild to go faster?? lol
  8. Throw in another flywheel vote. We get them at work all the time. Sounds like a rod is ready to take a trip out the botoom of the oil pan...
  9. Crazy Davey Racing going big time huh.....sweeeeet...good luck
  10. Or....give it a crappy paint job and a (good) kid driver....kid thinks he has more then he does.....could get real interesting
  11. Everything I've always wanted...but can't afford lol...It looks to be the best of both worlds...yea...I'm jealous...
  12. My question to you Ian would be, what benifit is a poly mount if the crossmember is mounted on rubber? I would think it kind of defeats the purpose of the poly mount when the rubber ends still flex.

    Re; 72 SS

Hey now...my 72 w code, special order black, convertable, 4spd, ls6, air ride, hurst shifted, through a "munson" 8 speed, 14 bolt, posi with factory slicks and cool air cleaner decal must ne worth alot more than 35k...how do you post e-bay ads?? I hate the b.s. Build whatever you want, but dont try to pass it off as something it's not. I would probably buy a 350 car converted into a 454 with options and "cool options" over an original 100 point resto. That's my taste. To each their own, but I get real uppitywhen its supposed to be a "rare" factory car and the "seller" hides the proof. Heck, we all have heard of people that took a rare car, added options it wasn't "born" with the correct way, did not hide this fact, and still got what the car was worth...so why play these games to try to dupe somebody?? Heck..I'm as greedy as the next guy...but i also own a mirror......
  14. Hey Cris, welcome to the madness. I'm sure somebody will be along to help you out soon, weekends kind of slow down here because everyone seems to check in from work lol
  15. Talk about climbing the corporate ladder!!! Only 3 years and look where she is now. We wouldn't be the same without ya Cap. I just can't get over how..ummm...timid.. she was in the begining lol
  16. WOW..I only thought I saw 1/4 of the show.....great pics
  17. It was great to meet new and see old. And I am still on cloud 9 just because I could put my car on the showfield ( a lil selfish but oh well lol). Beautiful cars one and all. I told the wife on the way home that next year, I'm going to drop her and the kids at her friends house in PA and head to the meet for at least the weekend...one day trips just ain't enough lol. I do have to say I was a lil shocked when I stopped for coffee and saw teh caravan from the hotel pass me by...a few people got cut off trying to catch up to them lol...and......Queenie was NOT on a trailer ...sorry Cap I had to lol
  18. Who owns a 72 that we can guilt into showing up lol

  21. Me Likey!!! Looks like it belongs there. Only wish I was that creative lol Jim
  22. Here ya go And we were ready to start ripping out his seats and bumpers that day just to get him into the 11's lol...we didn't have anyone lighter to drive it lol Jim
  23. Just from the outside looking in...did they get hosed on the last full repaint estimate they gave? I know most "body shops" around here only do patchwork/ collision work. Believe me, I need to get paid for my time, so maybe they have raised rates due to getting beat up in the past. I have seen shops take on full repaints in the slow season only to get busy and have that old car in the corner be a thorn in their side. I guess my biggest downfall is the benifit of the doubt. I have spent waayyy too much time doing jobs I shouldn't have and not adjusting the price accordingly, but I also refuse to go above my estimate, which is why I don't own my own shop...but that a different topic lol. The point I was trying to get to before I went off all by myself is, Is it possible they priced it that way because they just dont want to do it?? Not that this needs to be out there, but I have severley over priced jobs purley because I didnt want to do them, didn't want to tell the customer no for fear of loosing future businees, but that particular job just wasn't worth it. Something to think about. Jim
