  1. Well, it doesn't look like there's any hope of me finding a build sheet in my SS...at least all the numbers match from front to back and it has all the SS factory item including air ride system, shock plates, sway bar, and lower box arms. Thanks for all the input. Troy
  2. Have there been any cars built at the Flint, MI plant that have build sheets in them? If not, how does someone ever certify any of the equipment that was originally on the car once it left the plant? Thanks - Troy
  3. Carl...I got the same problem here on my laptop...not sure what happened but it's been like this for about a month or so...I've been just dealing with it but would like to get rid of it. Hopefully someone out there has expert computer experience they wouldn't mind sharing. Troy
  4. Took it for a nice ride -- 64 degrees in northern Illinois on Dec. 2nd, unthinkable but I'll take it. Tomorrow is suppose to be 65 degrees....I'll be leaving at noon from work to take another nice ride!! Troy
  5. You bet Rob...thoughts and prayers...stay positive and we will hear from you soon!! Troy
  6. I'm in...let me know the place and time...we'll keep in touch.. Troy
  7. Hey Tim (gronlit), We live just a few miles from each other...I live in Loves Park, near Perryville & Harlem intersection...maybe we can meet up next season. Let me know and I can PM all my info. I would like to know about the exhaust as well as I have a '70 SS that will be needing it soon. Thanks--Troy
  8. Thanks Bob...I'll look up the hijackers as well. Troy
  9. Can anyone tell me if these will fit a 1970 SS Monte? I thought that our original shocks from the factory were called Pleasurelift or Superlift from AC Delco. These are Superlift from 1995. Any help would be appreciated. http://s1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff464/TroyChargers80/AC%20Delco%20Shocks%20Superlift/ Thanks--Troy

If your grandfather has the skills you will gain 2 things: 1. The skills and learnings from your grandfather to potentially do this later on in life as you never know when you might take on another project 2. You save the $1000 that you're not giving someone else for their time. You can re-invest this money into something else that the car may need. Good luck with whatever you decide....Troy
  11. I too am an OEM Purist...so mine are plastic and will stay that way. However, I'm sure both have their pros/cons. Thanks-Troy
  12. I think I'll look at Rock Auto and get a set myself. I still have the original setup on my '70 SS Monte (except for the shocks) so these will be great to set it all back up to original. Troy
  13. Great idea Larry...sounds like a great plan...think I'll do the same. Troy
  14. Dennis...thanks for the pictures, those would have been nice to have but I'm not holding out that another set will be for sale anytime soon, so I'll look for a nice replacement. Bob...thanks for the info on the shock plates and shocks this is great info as I just soda blasted mine and I'm looking to restore them properly. Troy
  15. Awesome..thanks Dan...I wanted to also ask about the original shocks on a 70 Monte SS. What brand were they. Where could I find specific information regarding what actually they put on the car out of the factory? Thanks--Troy
  16. What was the original color of the shock protector plates on the SS Montes out of the factory? Was it flat, satin, or gloss black? Is there a good brand out there to use? Thank you-Troy
  17. I agree with taking the car in and letting the manager and mechanic know how much you appreciate the work that was done. Not only are you happy as a customer and they do appreciate that feedback, but it motivates the dealership, mechanic, manager, and everyone involved to continue that hard work and seeing it pay off. Troy
  18. No need to apologize Rob. After everything you've been through and are still going through, to even post on the site has to be a massive effort. Stay strong and get healthy, then you can post ALL YOU WANT Take Care Rob--Troy
  19. Currently I have a 4-barrel Holley carb on my 1970 Monte SS. The ID on the carb is as follows: List-6213 Date Code - 1340 800 CFM Can anyone tell me the value of this carb and when it was built? Can't decipher the date code. I'm looking to get back into a QJET which originally came on the 1970 Monte SS. Thank you-Troy
  20. Great news Rob...come on Friday, but take it easy, sit back and watch the Mecum Auction taking place in Monteray, CA and the ridiculous prices they will be getting for the cars. Take Care--Troy
  21. Keep those setbacks at bay...glad to see you had a moment to update us...great to hear from you. Troy
  22. Hi BigTank...PM Sent...could you send pictures to troychargers80@comcast.net Thanks--Troy
  23. Kinda puts that one to rest...wish they would confirm or deny (using the same method of an official letter) the LS6 Monte Troy
  24. A follow up question... 1. Should this choke stove be hooked up to the Holley carb until I switch it out for the QJET? Thanks--Troy
