  1. A Monte is better. Great shot, I'll be glad when Drag Season comes back around. That'll be a few months around here. Ware Shoals usually starts back in late Feb or early march. Lets hope.
  2. I didn't say a 350 was stronger...I said a 400 was stronger and a 350 will need to be built up strong to handle the power. But in the long run, a 400 Turbo built is still stronger, it has to be, its bigger, and heavier, and made to handle more power. A 350 is just lighter and better for the dragstrip. Sorry I confused you. If you go back and re read my 1st post you will see I said "a 350 is not as durable and it will need to be built up to handle the power".
  3. When you have that kind of power like that or what I'm going to have, they probably ain't much difference... But when you car about the 0.100 or 0.010 or even 0.001 of a second at the strip, then it matters.
  4. Go with a TH350, the Turbo 400 pulls more HP than a 350, of course a 350 is not as durable. It will need to be built to withstand the HP, I will be bolting a 350 behind a 600 HP 462 BB, but it will be a racing transmission.
  5. Truly outstanding. Glad to see another Monte heading down this road of good things.
  6. I don't remember him, but have heard nothing but good things... Speaking of the top posters, What happend to Pete?? He was #1, and I hadn't seen him here in a long time.
  7. Thanks Sam I thought so, mine is limited slip. And with todays gas prices...higher gear the better.
  8. Well I got another question.. What was the most common gear for a 72 402 car?
  9. I'll 3rd that. The carpet and everything else will be nothing but a mess and filled with Dust! Hey Steve...That SS is going for 6 figures right? You keep getting closer and closer to the magic 100,000 dollar mark. $$$$$$
  10. Cool pics. I can't wait for the Meet next year in PA.
  11. Sam can you post a pic of your hood?, also how was the quality of the fiberglass, was it straight? I just want to buy my hood from the best source of fiberglass parts supplier.
  12. 5:14...yeah I thought it was probably pretty low. I'll only have a 3:73.
  13. What is your gear? I'm about to get a 550-600 HP Big Block 462...and what does your car weigh?
  14. I think its a good idea Sam. That is gonna be a Dash full of Gauges. I like Gauges. Over those Dummy Lights.
  15. That is one fast 71 Monte. How much HP?
  16. Sounds like I should have kept my mouth shut. Oh and remember Robyn....
  17. Well after almost 3 full months of on and off weather pemitting Sanding, and lots of sandpaper later, and a lot of life took off my neighbors electric sander The First Good Coat of Primer is On! The Next Vicim Here is one of the pair of 71 SS extentions I found, I painted the black inside the chrome, just to look a little ligit when I put them on the car. I know I know 70 Taillight Bezel. This is the first step towards the Confusion.
  18. 3000 is what I going to have, but only street use, 2000 is probably good enough. But if you should want to go play then a higher stall would do you good. I will be taking the 72 SS to the dragstrip every once in a while.
  19. Its going to be a Phantom Car, wait till I get this thing complete in about year or two, I'm gonna have so many odd things on it, you're going to scratch your head. 71 SS Trim across the back/ black tail panel 70 steering wheel SS 454 emblems on fenders 72 Custom emblem on sail panel. 71 Hood Spear I guess you will call it the First Gen Retro sporting 600 HP and fiberglass hood and decklid.
  20. How about I meet you for lunch somewhere tomorrow. Call me tonite and let me know. Jared
  21. Progress. Progress! Progress!!! Frame and Firewall are 85% done, still some more filler to be sanded. I say 5-8 more working hours and the sanding and all filler application will be done. Then it will be time for paint. Big Block is Coming....October. This is a first for me as for as doing body work and working with major amounts of smoothing myself. I learned a lot working on Kevin's Coke Machine, more good things than one have come out of me helping him. Multiple things for me. I love WIN WIN situations. The goal on the firewall has been to smooth all factory imperfections of dents, dimples, high and low places, that goal is is getting there quickly. I am off from school tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get several hours in on it. Frame Rails is 95% done. I really have surpised myself and am happy on how its turning out. American Graffeti AC Delete Box is on the way. Now for that BIG Block.....
  22. NICE!!!!!!! What ETs are you expecting to get out of it, also what is the engine you have? Aluminum Heads? You opted to go with the custom dash, I'm going with the relative same idea with a red 72, wish my paint job was that shiney. Fiberglass front end right?
  23. If they have a metal backing to them, why can't they just make them solid out of rubber. I'll take USA or import, I would like to have a new soft set. I'd give $40 for a new set...may even go $50 for new ones. EVIL EVIL Jared....another one of those Monte Carlo dismantlers
