Mine got a new windshield today….

We pulled my 350 engine 3 times and never removed the hood… We did remove the radiator…. I'll stop by the garage and get a pic of the crane we used… Not sure how far you're going with the restoration,,,, but getting another crane may be easier than removing the front clip ... Ed C…

Ordered a new exhaust manifold for the drivers side… Been having problems with the drop in gaskets… They were installed correctly,, but seem to leak and bulge… Ed C

Logged 10,000 miles on the Monte's rebuilt engine…….. Friday, 18th of March 2022... Went to Lowes, took my wife and Hank for a hamburger, and filed my taxes… Great day….!!!!!

I picked up a few road chips last week…. Three very minor chips on the nose of hood… Three good sized chips and some new gravel marks on the windshield…. After 30 or 40 years of sand pitting, I was planning to replace it anyway… No lost sleep.. LOL From all the noise, I thought the whole damned truck fell on my car….. Turned out to be an easy touchup… Ordered her a new windshield today…. Install next Tuesday…

256 gears… 700r4… lots of low end torgue.. 15 to 17" of vacumn at 65… The engine isn't bogging down … She has the low end torgue… Sorry no pics after 80… When I push the pedal,, she just keeps pulling… After she reaches the 100mph I back off … b Ed C...

Took Hank for a high RPM spin,,,,,, Hank loves the speed… Sorry about my dusty gages… Love the low end torgue…. She'll cruise all day at 80mph and 2400 rpm … She's set up for the open road… I get 16 / 17 around the mountains … open road is about 20/21… The last time we took a road trip,,, we drove 8000 miles and the trip average was a bit over was 20mpg… Ed C

Back to your fuel problem …. My first reaction to the sound of your car was the accelerator pump… Going back to the last thing you did… If you changed the choke , is it possible that you altered the pump stroke or movement ??? Just throwing the idea out there…. I no longer use the stock Quadrajets… Always a problem with the valve bodies and accelerator pumps… Great carb as long as they are working well…. I use Edelbrock carbs and intakes…. I stored the old stuff just incase the next owner wants it original .. I prefer driving the car… You may want to check the accelerator pump too.. It can do strange things thing …. Ed

I got tired of paying the mechanic to do simple things… Thing's I used to do myself... I think you'll like these two items …. Good luck, Paul…... Ed ... BTW,,,,, this timing light will work on dwell for points ignition or the HEI style… It's doubtful how accurate it will be on the double fire MSD …. I took the new MSD off of my Monte , went back to vacumn advance, and reset my timing…. The Car runs better, actually has more power,, and gets better fuel economy…

My daughter's 454 El Camino has 308 gearing with an overdrive tranny… Not sure which one … She loves it … My Son in law has a 72 Chevelle , 383 stroker ,700r4 ..308 gearing.. He loves it.. My Monte has 256 gearing , 700r4 …. I'm a big fan of using the torgue rather than driving down the highway sucking down gas in the horsepower range .. at 3000 plus rpm …. If I need the horsepower it's there and the 700r4 will take you there … Ed C…

Sounds like she's thirsty… Bad fuel or intermittent fuel pump… Possible fouled plug or two.. I'd pull the plugs first..

LOL…. out of my league …. A 2400 Stall was way too much for me.. I went back to 1900 stall on my 700r4 … Ed C

I'm over all happy with the results… As an extra safety measure , we added gussets to the end plates and the main bar… I doubt this hitch will fail unless I tow my big trailer (Shown below) … …. This hitch will easily handle 150 lbs of tongue weight and a gross trailer weight of 2500lbs …

I pulled two of the three bolts on each plate and let the hitch drop down so we could weld the top and weld the receiver , steel reinforcement,,, and the chain holder … Note.. I placed the chain holder on top so it's hidden … When welded the hitch was easy to swing back to it's original position and we replaced the Grade A bolts… The center bolt are 9/16ths … end bolts are 1/2 inch ... After making the plates, I made a wooden mockup… Today we welded the hitch … The wooden mock up was really helpful….. The precut steel wedged in perfectly… Ed C steel … The … Ed C
