  1. that looks like some great metal. welcome and congratulations.
  2. the frame wasnt prepped just painted over and the paint comes off when the scales drop off. since it's out I'll do it again and I don't care much for polyurethane bushings. Willie what did you coat your frame with?
  3. So I got a rehabbed frame with my 70 4 speed. I am planning to strip the frame to bare metal. considering sand blasting or soda blasting. I am going to repair one bushing hole and repaint. I am planning on using epoxy and having it mixed to resemble the factory color. Has anyone used epoxy and how has it held up, did you prime with epoxy or did you just paint bare metal? the current frame has brand new poly bushings all around and tubular control arms. I plan to go back with GM or Moog bushings, I have used moog for 30 years for everything I could. I would like to locate gm control arms. Should I buy used and refurbish or buy new and do they meet OEM quality? If I have a used set I rehab I think they will also get epoxy paint but I wouldnt mind powder coating if it can match my paint. any thoughts on this? The diff will also get blasted but what is the proper color scheme is it black or raw metal? thoughts ideas or your personal 2 cents are appeciated. remember I like original for me
  4. your radiator is copper brass and lead. I have not had much luck cleaning them out. the scales breakdown and settle in your radiator. possibly cause more plugging and possible overheating. i would find a radiator shop that does radiators in house, it's a dying trade. you could also order an aftermarket one like an OEM or you can go aluminum.
  5. could this be to the wiper motor.
  6. hard for me to tell but maybe coolant.
  7. does the engine stumble or decelerate to the point you think its going to stall. that split moment might drop your oil pressure.
  8. Is your oil pan original. I had a vehicle do this once and removed the oil pan to check for trash in the pan and found they had an aftermarket oil pan with no baffle. the oil sloshing around made the light go on when braking, accelerating and turns. I dont know, why its low when braking. usually cam bearings are the first thing to give you low oil pressure. maybe bad pressure relief valve in the oil pump. Is this a new problem.
  9. seeing that before picture should be enough encouragement. get it cleaned up. very nice car
  10. Reason behind electrical is you say you have 20lbs of oil pressure. that is plenty to keep the light off. You mentioned that you already replaced the sending unit and I will believe it is not defective. I will also agree with DragCat do not use a plastic line. I know from experience it is a disaster waiting to happen.
  11. when you took your oil pressure reading did you take it from the same point as the sending unit. I would check at that point and I would warm the car up and drive it to simulate the condition. If you still feel you have hood oil pressure then check the voltage and possibly it has some resistance somewhere.

    1970 Fenders

I saw some on ebay the other day didnt pay much attention I think I searched Nos or something.
  13. I will always try to stay period correct I like original.thank you for pointing that out
  14. I am not sure if the ac works on the monte hard to check in the Michigan cold. I do have some r12 available bbn ke and I always liked it better than r134. I have a 1971 compressor which is the same. I might take bbn it apart and rebuild it. would bbn like to flush the system and clean any trash in the evaporator box.
  15. I just checked them out. now i know. I'll see what i find and if not they will be my backup
  16. very clear. you intend to go back with 134a correct. has anyone notice any coming characteristic that are different better or worse converting r12 to 134a
  17. I need a full set of brackets for ac, alt, and ps. going to put together a 402.
  18. How hard was it getting the evaporator out. I am guessing your going with 134a
  19. are the ac brackets for a 402 the same for a 454.
  20. Congratulations nice to see innovation still happening. I probably at some point will try one out. Do you think that it can be stamped out. have 2 dies made and use one and keep the other on yourshelf.
