  1. Rob, we added the 18 th to our trip so we can travel to Gettysburg with the group Wednesday. FYI . Ron T
  2. Welcome John!. This year’s FGMCC eastern meet is in Carlisle PA in June .. Owning your future 72 is not necessary to attend. Just being a club member your qualified. Would be a great way to meet some club members. It’s a great time also.. just contact Rob Peters our president, if you would like to attend and he will fix you ⬆️..
  3. Amazing to see the things our club members are doing to there first gen Monte’s . Good use of winter days Been doing some paint touch on the 71.. not professional, but not bad either. Old dog can learn new tricks 🐕… had a paint crack behind rear window, removed the trim, filled, smoothed, painted, blended in.needs a little more buffing . But . I’m happy with it ..
  4. Good that you get tested Rob, not sure if it’s geographical, insurance, or doctor preferences here. But I’ll find out soon . My blood work is due before first of the year.. I’ll specifically ask for the test.
  5. Ok Dan I have a picture of yours and Dennis 71 linkage . Going to go from there.. and as pays says also , my linkage is incorrect.. Dan, I am sending you a PM..
  6. Had simular problems with my 71 after replacing pcb for gauges. Problem ended up being the plug pins not making connections to the pcb… I would expect gauges to go back down when connections are good. Just my 2 cents..
  7. I plan on replacing the carb with the original number, 7041200, . At a later date hopefully. Least expensive one I have found rebuilt is 549$ plus tax and shipping. Ugh. so , in the meantime seeing this one one the car is preforming fine I will order some new linkage clips . Found some on my log splitter I think should hold it pretty good 👍🏻. Ordered those… 😂.
  8. Happy and blessed thanksgiving to all ! 🦃 The Mrs and I will be hosting, ourselves. She always cooks a great thanksgiving meal. But I have the toughest job, as supervisor :)…
  9. Thanks Dennis, same clips as mine. I may switch to the proper number carb tho. But now I know it must have been a fluke they came off due to old parts . Don’t know why they put different carb on, unless this one was just laying around . It doesn’t look new . Hopefully I car find correct replacement, thanks for everyone’s help.. Ron…
  10. It’s definitely a keeper!
  11. Thanks guys. I did some research on my own and came up with a 7041200 being the correct carb for my 71. Picture included. however, as I said , I got the number off of the existing carb and it certainly works good but the number does not correspond with the correct one. It is a 7044223 . Which indicates it was for a 1974 Chevy or gmc 454 standard transmission.. truck… it doesn’t appear to be an 800 cfm carb as it doesn’t have a bulge on left Venturi. Stamped on the side is “ mfg by Carter for GMC. Could not locate any date stamp . How they got around the transmission part I don’t know , unless it has a different base.. what’s crazy is. It runs great. Except for the linkage problem. So, I’m not sure what type of linkage arrangement the proper carb would have. The 7041200. I’ll try look at one online and see. Any input, let me know, Ron… PS. So I’m thinking I need to check on those different clips for the linkage that Paul posted a picture of. 👍🏻
  12. Great!. Thank you , I’ll get the number off of this one this week while off work and get back with you to see if it’s compatible or comparable. If that’s ok. The can is a Kansas City car . Appreciate the help Paul. Welcome to the site .
  13. I don’t have carb number with me but can get it this week.
  14. 1971, 454, TH400, auto of course. Thanks..
  15. Thanks Paul, I’ll have to check this out.. I’ve had the car 8 years and have been told the carb was changed sometime before then.. now I will do some meticulous research on whether i even have to right Qjet. Ron….
  16. 2008 version of Eric Burdens House of the rising son, and we gotta get out of this place. Extra long 5 minutes and 10 minutes respectively… man got better with age!!!… all my cassettes, cds are digital now.. on computer or phone.. still have dozens of those cassette and cds but nothing to play them on anymore.. sad…
  17. Seat covers appear to have had extra padding added. Which I may have done to mine. Nice looking car from what I can see of the pictures.. should have left it green, my opinion 🤔.
  18. Besides having done the leveling compressor brackets , winter projects for the 71 are bucket seats redone and minor paint repairs with correct paint mixture , spray gun and clear coat .. seats already out waiting on upholstery place to call.. plus purchasing a part from mega parts post ‘ Jared’ to bring 454 into proper detail… more lights added in car port so I can see clearly to work on this bad boy .. 71 says “ well, can you see me now !”
  19. I will add that, green is ,one ,of my favorite colors for a first gen Monte, not that it matters.. and no, my favorite isn’t white..
  20. Thank you for sharing Willi, that’s what this FGMCC family is all about, we are here for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you now.. being a bus driver and a friend of yours, this touches my ❤️
  21. I still prefer the raised white letters on a Monte muscle car. Or gentleman’s muscle car as has been said. It was a big thing where I grew up to see a hi power 60s or early 70s muscle car with crager chrome wheels and raised white lettering tires , and a deep rumble coming from the exhaust, at the drive in on a Saturday night .. very popular back then and very fitting to the era now ..
