  1. I purchased the compressor mounts from Dan, they are excellent.
  2. If your KYBs failed that soon, they are defective. I installed 4 KYB Gas Adjust shocks on my 62 Impala SS 11 years ago, now after 15000 miles they still give excellent handling and ride. I recently installed them on my 70 MC SS 454 on the front and like them. After experiencing a very harsh ride on a 3500 Chevy van and on an 87 Camaro with Bilsteins, I will never purchase them again. .
  3. With the ignition on, I don't have any voltage at the detent switch. The wiring diagrams in the shop manual do not show the wiring for this circuit. Does anyone know where the power is fed from?
  4. 1970 SS 454, 2.56 axle ratio, 225 70 R15 tires When flooring the accelerator above 50 mph it does not downshift to 2nd. At 50 mph it does. Is there any way to get a downshift up to at least 70 mph?
  5. I don't believe that ACdelco manufactures spark plugs anymore. Their plugs for late model Chevrolets are made by Denso or NGK. I recently installed NGK iridium plugs in my 70 SS 454 and they are working great. Platinum or iridium plugs Will last longer.

  7. Be sure the car is up to the normal operating temperature when you check the transmission level.
  8. Wanting my Monte to look as original as possible, but with a metal core, I bought Pertronix 708102 (for big blocks). These wires are 7mm black jacketed and have the spiral wound metal core that does not cause radio issues. Amazon prime had the best delivered price, $60.99
  9. With flat tappet cam engines it is recommended that you use a an oil with at least 1000 ppm ZDDP. If you use ZDDP additives, be careful not to ad too much. Most oil designed for new cars has reduced ZDDP to protect the catalytic converters. Check with the manufacturer of your oil to verify the amount of ZDDP.
  10. Thanks guys for the info. I am going to stay with 32.
  11. I have new P225 70 15 radials on my big block SS. What are you guys using for tire pressure?
  12. I have a partial build sheet for my 1970 Monte Carlo SS. Does anyone have a list of the build sheet codes codes for this car?
  13. St. Patrick was born in England!
  14. Here are some magazines with articles on the 70 Monte Carlo SS, these can sometimes be found on ebay or Amazon: ' Special Interest Autos, June 1991 Car Life,Feb. 1970 Motor Trend, Nov. 1969
