  1. The steering column turning is part of the back drive which locks the column so that is normal. To me it sounds like the attachment point on the trans moved on you which has the shift cable hook to it.
  2. How is the under side of the cover made? I had some M/T cast covers that had dippers that hit the rocker arms. One thing you could do is check the the over all height of your valve train by laying the gasket on the head and then use a straight edge across the gasket and measure up to the rocker arm and then repeat on the valve cover. I'm sure you swap the new covers from side to side and got the same issue (if not you could try and swap them or even turn the cover around).
  3. The round vs oval on the lower control arm is just a design style. You can pick up complete stock style a-arms that have new bushing already install and a better cross shaft in the upper arm.
  4. Looks like you hit up Ausley's Chevelle and grab a radiator from them.
  5. I made it back to working on the elec fans for the 72. Got the wiring all taken care of The fans should come on at 185°
  6. Since the suede headliner came in I saw the the Chevelle side panels would not work. I found an original Monte side panel and used it as a template for the new ones. The new ones will be cover in the extra suede that came with the headliner and then the rear deck will be made later down the road with the same suede that was used in the trunk.
  7. And Aaron the sad part is he is going out of business as the member advised me. Been to that place once and I didn't see much if it wasn't on the shelf he could order it for you.
  8. I put this one http://www.chevelle.com/1968-1972-Heavy-Duty-Aluminum-Radiator-Auto-or-Man-P7982.aspx in my 72. My 70 has a 93 GMC 1500 pickup radiator in it which runs roughly 215°.
  9. I believe you would use the 0 on the timing tab and 18 on the balancer. If you just had a line with no numbers then you would use the timing tab range. And again I could be wrong.
  10. Drew its a copper brown met from a 2000 chevy color chart. As for the proportioning valve either one will work as its for disk/disk.
  11. You can get any master cylinder my 72 has a Wilwood 1" bore master cylinder for its disk setup front and back.
  12. On a master cylinder you need the front and rear the same size bore and a disk/disk proportioning valve. Depending on the wheel you are running it might hit the caliper (we have their system on a 70 El Camino with SS style wheels and it hit the caliper).
  13. Went out and visit a fabric shop to start working on the panels plus have a 20% discount code. Lay out 1/2" foam on the back panel and then cut out around the bow tie Got the panel by the latch fab up so it's now one piece vs three pieces All the panels will be cover in black suede.
  14. Brandon here is the UMI kit which is close to what I have on my http://umiperformance.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_32_42&products_id=602 . It comes with a 1" rear sway bar. And maybe this for the front sway bar http://umiperformance.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_34&products_id=287
  15. Not to sound like an [censored] Brandon but I would forgo the drop springs if you are going to use the air bags in the springs. I have poly bushings in the front of my 70 hotchkis springs with KYB shocks front and back. Car rode nice and smooth on a rough road even with the rear control arm bushing being shoot. I recently put UMI tubular arms on the rear with their rear sway bar but haven't drive the car since the upgrade last year. My 72 has tubular front control arm with coil overs. The coil overs is the ideal way to go as you can change out the spring rate and the rebound of the shocks.
  16. Bill it's a 2000 Chevy pickup kolor (yes that is with a K). Only Ford parties the rear end and that by name only lol.
  17. The trunk is getting one step closer on getting done. Went with a stand off bowtie instead cutting out the bowtie. Thinking 1/4" foam on the panels and maybe 3/8" on the bowtie to stand out a little more.

  19. For HEI you will need an end like on the spark plug.
  20. The only other item to think about is intake style. With Vortec heads you have to switch over to an intake with 8 hold down points. And also the center bolt down valve covers. There used to be Vortec heads on the market that took either the older style intake or the newer Vortech style and you could run the older style valve covers.
  21. Had items come in this week for the 72 and got around to putting in one of the items. Brought a trunk panel kit to dress up the trunk and finish off the fuel cell. Now I have to come up with a way to finish the panels, going to add 1/4" foam on the panels to close up the gaps and either vinyl or something of carbon fiber cloth. Will dress up the back panel either with a bowtie cut out and a piece of plexiglass with a light behind it to work as a trunk light or a raise bowtie.
