  1. So you can plug the cluster in and it will light and show what's working, just make sure you have the grounds grounded.
  2. Best way to find it trace the brake line front the master cylinder down as it ties to the top. Or you can trace the line from the driver side wheel to the valve as it ties to the front.
  3. The proportion valve is on the inside of the frame towards the motor and trans. The wire will turn the brake light on at the dash if there was an issue.
  4. Well I brought out the buffer and what rubbing compounds I had on hand to polish the test area on the 72 to see how the two colors will look together and that was after seeing the Monte family up in Carlisle.
  5. It's more of a personal choice. We have two bowtie overdrive 700r4 stage 2 trans one has regular B&M trick shift and the other has synthetic B&M trick shift can't tell the difference between the two other then the color of the bottle and the color of the fluid. Our 70 El Camino has Amsoil in it and my 72 will run Royal purple fluid there is no reason why we picked the fluid we did.
  6. Bench seat you would just need the seat. Since you have almost everything for the buckets roll the dice and go buckets. Plus buckets make it easier to get in the back seat vs bench. Just my throughts and yes I have buckets in both montes.
  7. Those are plugs for a non-air car so you won't need them.
  8. Chris do you plan on using the heat in the car? If yes then you will run the orange wire to the blower motor and then hook the control panel up to the harness. I've done two of the AAW harness one in my 70 with factory heat only and my 72 with the air and heat removed. Take your time and follow the sheets they provide and ask question you can message me and I can try and assistance the best I can.
  9. Don't know about the blood but it has been alot of sweat in this project. I'll be glad just to have it done getting tired of pushing it in and out of the garage. Here lately its been adding bondo sand off bondo, lets try those two colors and get a color plan picked out. This is what we came up with Dark toreador red as the main body color and then the center of the cowl induction hood and roof black cherry pearl. The center of the hood looks like it will tie into the roof fine with the top trim and the body line on the hood.
  10. Murphy I will be using the stock trim to separate the two colors. The 72 is an original non vinyl top car but I like to be different.
  11. Shot a little color on the side of the car and broke it up with stock top trim. a black primer might make the colors darker but not sure if a darker color is what it needs.
  12. Here is what my 72 might look like who knows when lol The trim will be held on with 3m double side sticky tape.
  13. Testing two colors black cherry pearl met over dark cherry met and then black cherry under the dark cherry. Put in a new windshield in the El Camino glass came from auto city glass.
  14. Glen I have UMI on the rear of my 70 don't ask how it handles as it hasn't seen the road since it was put on last year.
  15. That is the ground for the head light switch it screws to the metal frame work of the dash
  16. For the delete cover you have to drill a hole enough to get the coils into the box. Remember to pull the old one off the A/c box as they don't carry one in the reproduction world Here is the center vent that sits above the a/c and heat control panel This is the plate that replaces the vent Vents in dash drivers side vent in dash passenger side vent center dash vent lap vent under the glove box lap vent under the steering column So on a air car you have a total of 5 vents. What I did was left all five vents hooked to the inside box this giving option on where I wanted the heat to blow. On a true non-air car you only have the two side dash vents plus vents in the kick panel those vents have to be manual open via the kick panel. Heat on those only blow out on the floor.
  17. With the back drive still attached to the column where the shift arm was at on the column it will rotate. Depending on the shift you are using you will have to make an extension so the NSS works as you are moving it from the column to the floor shift.
  18. If you do the AC delete keep the controls as it still works with the heat and the vent. When I did a AC delete panel for my 70 I left everything in the dash so it looked stock. When I did the factory style non-air I did away with the center vent and put the block off plate in its place. My 72 has a smooth firewall but the air and heat controls are in the dash nothing hooked up to it or the three vents.
  19. Hi Paul yes I added the rear sock tower brace. Since the rear suspension has been done the car hasn't seen any street time. What the brace does or so I was told it is to keep the rear shock towers from pulling towards each other in high G's. It was a pain to get in due to the bar sliding on top of the shock towers and against the body of the car. It came with bigger bolts but I used my stock shock bolts even though it took time to get them back in place.
  20. Not a lot got done, layout some artwork on the sail panel of the 72. We pulled the El Camino out and redid the garage it sits in.
  21. Got the top trim painted back and now rethinking the color lay out. Might end up doing a black cherry on top to tie the trim in and then dark cherry on the lower half. Anyone have a layout for the corner vinyl top stud?
  22. I have some vinyl top trim that I'm trying to restore it wont look stock but it will be painted like stock. Right now there is piece of tape on the area that should be painted. What is the best way to prep the trim?
  23. Hi Larry the steering shaft has a flat spot on it at both connection for the bolt to slide int, if you have bolts in then it could be the steering wheel. I know mine is off on my 70 when I switched over to the three spoke wheel.
  24. Not sure how the metal studs will work. You can get the original bulb sockets from any of the parts vendor 70-72 Chevelles had the same dash as our cars.
