  1. I got mine from bumper rack it’s part of Ausley’s chevelle. Rather it’s amd, goodmark, Sherman they all come from one supply company. http://www.bumperrack.com//category.php?id=29
  2. Well Larry mine was already black which could explain why the carbon fiber paint didn't turn out like it should have. On my 70 we just wiped the dash down with strong lacquer thinner and then painted it dark saddle or brown.
  3. Larry I believe the dash was originally chrome then painted to match the interior. I have done two dashes and both were shiney. Depending on how the last owner painted it you might have to play with the different thinners.
  4. I have a set of vortec heads on a little 355 that makes 390HP. The motor builder had (think he order them) the heads drilled for the older style intakes plus the vortec style intakes. The bolt holes that aren't used has allen style screws in them to close the bolt hole. They installed regular rocker arms with poly locks on top of them. I then order an adapter for the valve covers and was able to run the older covers. We did run a factory upper TPI and runners on a base intake for vortec heads no issue. If the rear AC bracket don't line up make a bracket out of flat stock so you can support the bracket.
  5. Here are the pictures for the Year One mirror.
  6. Jeffery the difference is in the gasket. I have the Year one mounted on the door. The Monte gasket is a little thicker on one side then then the other where the Chevelle gasket is the same thickness. Most Chevelle parts will work on our Monte's as its the same design just a little tweak. Next time I'm out in the shop I'll grab a couple of pictures of the mirror. I know a few years back OPGI had the same mirror kit, but now they only have the left side which makes me think the right side couldn't be made https://www.opgi.com/monte-carlo/1971/mirrors-hardware/outside-mirrors/CH27054/ If you compare the OPGI and the Year One mirror you'll see they are the same.
  7. Got Lizard Skin heat and sound control in the 72 Monte, Dynamat foam padding in a 70 El Camino.
  8. I would call and verify they have them in stock before ordering. I have a reproduction lh sport mirror from Year one https://www.yearone.com/Product/1964-72-chevelle-monte-carlo-el-camino/rm331 it fits good. The main things is you need the correct gasket and the base needs to be right. I brought a used set think they came off a mid 80's Trans Am and they would sit right on the door even after trimming down the base.
  9. What fitting is everyone running for their power brakes? I got a stock power brake fitting with two other vacuum sources but it doesn’t work with the intake I’m running.
  10. I’ll have to see if I have an old one from my 70 I believe it’s lap vent was gold could be wrong.
  11. The 72 came to life this morning/afternoon. Here is a video of it running https://www.facebook.com/rob.king.771/videos/1685091891525777/ it was just a quick fire up the computer wants to idle at 750 RPM but it idles at 1K RPM's. I can say one thing it starts up very quick compared to the other EFI I had.

  13. Got the fuel leak resolve system is holding 43PSI so that's a good sign. Got it to turn over and figured lets try and start the thing. Got a little pop back though the throttle body and a pop out of the exhaust.
  14. The patten is different you might have to give them a call.
  15. Was the motor every taken apart and redone? I know when I added gear drive to my car years back the instructions gave you two ways to line the dots up. So maybe someone line the dots up so it is set to fire on 6 instead of 1 just a though.
  16. I had the same thing happen to mine a few years back. What I did was undid the exhaust to rule out something in the exhaust like a leak letting O2 into the hot exhaust (not a wise choice when sitting in a garage). My out come was something in the exhaust was causing the popping. I ended up swapping my mufflers at the time they were over 10 years old. The mufflers were starting to rust out from the inside and the plates that were welded to the case had broken lose. I changed mufflers and the popping stopped all together.
  17. Its a block off plate that is screwed in place.
  18. Have you looked at the parts books for the stock exhaust? The stock system would have been more around the 2.25" range if not 2". The 2.5" would have been at the resonators for the tips to fit on. No more sells just the resonators you have to buy a complete system. Here is a stock OEM system from ss396.com for a Chevelle http://www.ss396.com/chevelle/XSA-68B-KIT.html here is the chamber exhaust you'll notice at the end of the tail pipe it the resonator I was talking about earlier http://www.ss396.com/chevelle/XCE-301K.html . There is one company http://www.gardnerexhaust.com/ they build OEM style exhaust not cheap. Here is their 70-72 Chevelle kit http://www.gardnerexhaust.com/1970-chevelle-exhaust-system.html
  19. Was hooking the starter back up yesterday and the slip on connector for the solenoid fall off, could have been the issue causing it not to complete the cycle don't know as I pulled the bulkhead connection in the engine bay off and verify the wire was in all the way. But good news is it turns over with the key which is all I need. Added some Royal Purple Oil to the motor, dumped 5 gallons of 87OCT in and used both gallons of Evans coolant (need more before a fire up). Hit the key to prime the fuel system and came across a gas leak at the regulator so got new fittings coming for the regulator.
  20. Well after spinning 4 hours trouble shooting the no turn over on the 72, it looks like we are back at square one. So I got power at the NSS in both park and neutral I had juice on the column but it went away (maybe bad ign switch). Went to use a remote starter and nothing from the remote starter. Dropped the starter (4 years old but new) and it engages and turns over so the starter is good. All the ign location in the American Autowire fuse panel has juice the EFI is getting it's power and the MSD 6al box is seeing power. I think tomorrow I will pull the bulkhead connection in the engine and make sure its seat good. Other than that I'm lost as everything else has power.
  21. Was away from the garage for over a month, last week had to help my girlfriend move to CA in our slightly used Chevy 1500 pickup. Today I found my way to the garage to do some work. I throw a battery in the 72 to check the wiring to make sure the EFI was ready to go and ran across an issue with the ign switch which I changed out. Next week looks like the fire up date for the 72 might have a exhaust leak but we will see. The radio from Ausley's chevelle chevelle.com sounds good with just one speaker in place and its no where close to the speaker grill. https://www.facebook.com/rob.king.771/videos/1658334777534822/
  22. The front panels fit good they added extra chrome to the panel which to me makes them stand out more. The rear panels has a ABS plastic panel vs the metal ones like the originals. But the fit is nice and they have held up well.
  23. I went to CARS inc for the door panels in my 70 as I needed the dark saddle color to match the rest of the interior.
  24. Dan I did the same with my 72 ordered 45” long cable going to the starter and it is short. So I’ll be buying another battery to start cable when I have the funds.
