  1. Speedometer not work? That would be a 28" tall tire. If you did it correctly and it came out to 3.73 (which it sounds like you did) yes it is impossible to be revving at 4k. So either your GPS is not accurate, you messed up on the old school way of measuring the gears, your tach is not working properly, or your transmission is slipping bad.
  2. I saved this a while back. I know it is a little more info than you actually for and it does not include your original answer but I see people have already helped... Underhood Detailing: Frame and upper/lower control arms and upper shafts = semi-gloss black Front coil springs = gloss black or natural (better detail contrast) Firewall, inner fenders, radiator support = semi-gloss black Radiator and fan = gloss black Fan clutch = natural aluminum Radiator shroud = natural black plastic or gloss black Steering box = natural cast iron gray Steering linkage = natural steel Front sway bar = natural cast iron gray Heater or AC housing = semigloss black Hood hinges, latch, catch and springs = gray phosphate plated Brackets and steel pulleys = semi-gloss or gloss black (gloss gives more detail contrast) Cast iron pulleys = natural cast iron Master cylinder = natural cast iron (some use gloss black) Brake booster = gold cadmium plated (master cylinder lid also) Windshield wiper motor = gloss black Alternator = natural aluminum Power steering pump = gloss black AC compressor = semi-gloss black Steering column shaft = natural steel Horns = gloss black Coil = gloss black Voltage regulator = gloss black Distributor = natural aluminum with gloss black cap Fuel and brake lines = natural steel Undercarriage Details: Transmission = natural aluminum Bellhousing = natural aluminum Transmission support = semi-gloss black Driveshaft = natural steel Rear axle = semi-gloss black Rear swaybar = semi-gloss black Rear coil springs = gloss black Rear control arms = semi-gloss black Gas tank = natural steel (shiny) Gas tank straps = gloss black Parking brake cables = natural steel
  3. I just noticed the SS part...are you keeping it original? Then the overdrive I previously mentioned is out the window.
  4. How tall are your rear tires? If they are 27" that would show you have maybe a 4.56 gear...which is way steep. I am pretty sure 3.55's are a Ford gear ratio. A GM comparable would like a 3.31 or 3.42. Do you ever plan on an overdrive?

    Mugs

Wow, been over 3 years since I last posted a photo...and I see it has vanished. Here's one from 2 weeks ago of my girlfriend Christine and I.
  6. Looks just like my hood except mine is the heavier version using hood springs. I did go with pins on the front along with the factory hood latch...with yours not being able to use springs or hood latch i would say go with pins or the dzus fasteners. I used to have locking pins (Mr. Gasket) and they were hard to adjust the depth to let them lock or unlock easily. Other brands may or may not be better. I will say my locks did work well for a couple years but every so often they would get out of wack and I could not get my hood open without spending wasted time playing with them...then the thought of an engine fire and them getting stuck again made me go with basic pins.
  7. Yep, found an old thread and the link in it is dead....http://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1834-adding-height-to-rear-of-car/
  8. I am pretty sure they stopped making them. I am searching now for them...their name was something like "Budzter".
  9. Tires properly inflated? Just throwing out an obvious one but you would be amazed how many people are driving around on 25 pounds or less.
  10. "deep dish" does not explain the back spacing...but it does say in a way that the back spacing is small. To obtain a "deep dish" effect on say that 10" wheel the b.s. would have to like 4" which is less than half the width of the wheel. That would never fit on our Montes. 5" is the ideal b.s. on an 8" rim with a 275/60/15 tire. 6" of b.s. would be needed on that 10" rim...1" extra in and leaving the other extra 1" out towards the fender lip. I would bet money even if that was accomplished the 10" rim would be stretching the sidewall out that it may hit the fender lip or the inner wheel well. Actually I am curious now if it would fit... Regardless my better bet would be those 10" wheels do not have 6" of b.s.
  11. Very Cool... I guess everything has a price on it, surprised to hear you would sell it though.
  12. Actually that is exactly what I was thinking when I posted it... LINK...https://youtu.be/2KeniFoiT-0?t=133
  13. Mint Monte Carlo crushed...okay, well not so mint but check out 8:15 into the video...
  14. Awesome pictures. I have like only four pictures of my Monte when my Dad and I painted it in 83, wish I had more.
  15. Have you looked through this "pinned" topic...http://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3188-wheel-and-tire-data-base/ ?
  16. Don't be afraid to put dielectric grease on any electrical contacts...not necessary every where but it can't hurt.
  17. A mechanic did that to my car.
  18. Mine is mounted on my aftermarket shroud and radiator. It measures 3"x8".
  19. I agree with Sam. Mine is putting out roughly 520hp (at the flywheel) and have not added any frame stiffeners. I do have poly motor mounts, tranny mount, and complete poly rear suspension but that is about it...oh, and all boxed rear control arms.

  21. Tucked my Monte in the corner of the garage for it's long Winters nap...
  22. Hoping the best for him...I did not know he was going through that much
