  1. I had that mesh problem on my old starter but not with my new one.
  2. I would start at lowering it two inches.
  3. I got a thermal clutch form Summit Racing and a new 18" fan at the same time. A friend gave a me a fan and clutch but it was 18 3/4" and was hitting the fan shroud. FLX-5718 was summits part number for the fan and FLX-5555 for the fan. Works great even after I got the air running before the trip to Hiawassee. Even on the hottest of days it was only running around 180 degrees and still does.
  4. Kevin I have a good friend who did that to the dash on his International Harvester Scout and when the sun hit sit it blinds him. He has to keep a top on so he can see to drive it when sunny. He told me it took him three weeks to do just the three panels on his dash. He has done quite a few mods to the scout. It makes a real neat looking street rod instead of a ATV with huge tires and sitting 5 feet off the ground.
  5. If it is a 72 and a custom the extra holes would be for the custom badge.
  6. My 72 has 3:73 gears and 350 SB and a 700R4 tranny. At 70MPH the tach reads 2700rpm
  7. Speaking of Monte vertables and not trying to hijack thread I like the look of the 70 vertable on The Parts Place website. Think I need a new condenser fro the AC on my 72 and that was at the top of the page.
  8. I think a thin weather strip would be a good choice as that would stop any rattles from occurring.
  9. I would go with the mini starter if it was mine. I do not know the number of my hooker headers but I had a mini starter when I bought the car last Aug.
  10. Check with Leo. I have a bent hinge on my car and talked to him about getting new aftermarket or getting and original. He told me that his aftermarket have had no problems he is aware of. $75.00 for original and around $40.00 per for new aftermarket.
  11. I have not had any problems. Week before last I did and I ran a free maleware program and found 797 viruses/worms and whatever else that program found and now it is much quicker
  12. It will run cooler with a 50/50 water/anti freeze mixture. At least mine did
  13. When I replaced mine they were gaped at .045
  14. On my SBC I set the plug gap at .045.
  15. My grand dad always said if you can't cuss and hit with a hammer it ain't worth fixin.
  16. I used to build those column mounted ignition switches. There are I think four copper/alloy bars inside that slide over the terminals inside the switch. I have seen those contact bars wear and fall over shorting across a couple of the terminals. Did not happen often but is has in the past.
  17. The frame is the same as an El Camino except the body mounts were relocated.
  18. The frame is the same for a Monte/El Camino/Chevelle Station Wagon

I really like that Bowtie overdrive TV systems on my 72.
  20. Cleaned it with a precleaner then sanded my box with 320 sandpaper, cleaned it with a precleaner again and then primed it with a lacquer based primer, lightly sanded it with 400 grit paper, cleaned it with a precleaner again and then used SEM trim black to paint so it matches the rest of the paint work under the hood.
  21. A radiator repair shop might be able to change the necks
  22. That yellow wire I saw was spliced so it could have been tan near the firewall. Now I know what color to look for on my 72.
