Yes, they should match. The VIN plate and the body tag are not from the same car. Do you still have the blue sticker on the inside edge of the drivers door? That has the VIN and the month it was built on it. Have you found a build sheet in the car?

I am a sucker for Sandalwood which both my Montes have. I grew up with white or black vinyl interiors but when I saw my 70 Monte the first time I really liked the Sandalwood. I always thought I wanted black but after owning my red 71 SS with black vinyl interior I didn’t like how hot it got in the sun. That’s one of the reasons I sold it to buy the 71 SS I have now. The Sandalwood is much cooler. I have also owned a couple 72 Montes with Covert interior which is similar to Sandalwood except it has dark brown carpet and dash. More like a 2-tone interior. As for colours like blue or green I think they look great when restored and looking new.

From the factory the seats did not have the chrome on the lower part for a Monte. Just the upper part around the seat back. No end caps were used. I added the trim to the lower part on the 71 SS I used to have and it did the same thing yours is doing. It doesn’t want to bend around that corner and when it straightens out it pulls off. I eventually took it off and redid it. I tried to make sure the trim was installed straight down if that makes any sense. The first time I did it I think it was on a bit of an angle which made it easier for it to pup off. You could also try making a cut on the trim on the inside of that bend so it will make that bend easier. You won’t see the cut and it won’t have any force trying to pull off the front part of the seat.

Here’s what the shape of the tank should be. From the factory some were plated in a gold type finish and some were black. Mine has been painted to appear like the plating.

The tank isn’t correct for a Monte. The rest is probably fine though.

I had mine shipped to me in Western Canada without issue. They look great. I had to open up a hole or two to get them to fit. Take your time putting them in and you will get great results.

As Larry said, 1970 only and was cancelled part way through the production year. No 1971 Montes had this trim. My 1970 does.

His tank is simply round on the end. The proper tank has a cap on the end. I believe he has to find the correct tank as the cap doesn’t come off (ie the cap is not available as a separate piece). The tank he has will work but to be factory correct it should have the tank with the proper end in it. The tank he has may be from a Cadillac or other GM vehicle.

Not correct. The tank is is different missing the cap on the end.

In my experience those clips can be tough to get off without breaking the tab off the chrome backing. The only time I have tried to get those clips off I was replacing the chrome backing anyway so wasn’t a big deal if I broke the tab off.

Top left corner of build sheet. June 16th. Your body tag should have a code 06C for 3rd week of June on it. The blue sticker has 06-71 for June of 1971.

Their values seem outdated. Those SS454 prices would be right 5 years ago but not now. I was considering selling my 71 SS this year but would just keep it at those prices. I turned down $50k USD for it in 2022..

To buy the covers I suggest Legendary Interiors or CARS Inc as mentioned. They will take a long time as they make them after you order them so be prepared to wait. I got my cloth seat covers from Legendary and very happy with the quality. They look like my originals. I have seen CARS Inc ones too and they look good.

There’s a couple minor leaks I have figure out and deal with first as well. I’ve been sick this weekend so haven’t been in the garage since Friday.
