  1. The tank isn’t correct for a Monte. The rest is probably fine though.
  2. I had mine shipped to me in Western Canada without issue. They look great. I had to open up a hole or two to get them to fit. Take your time putting them in and you will get great results.
  3. I’ve been married for over 20 years and I’m still learning… 🤣
  4. As Larry said, 1970 only and was cancelled part way through the production year. No 1971 Montes had this trim. My 1970 does.
  5. His tank is simply round on the end. The proper tank has a cap on the end. I believe he has to find the correct tank as the cap doesn’t come off (ie the cap is not available as a separate piece). The tank he has will work but to be factory correct it should have the tank with the proper end in it. The tank he has may be from a Cadillac or other GM vehicle.
  6. Not correct. The tank is is different missing the cap on the end.
  7. In my experience those clips can be tough to get off without breaking the tab off the chrome backing. The only time I have tried to get those clips off I was replacing the chrome backing anyway so wasn’t a big deal if I broke the tab off.
  8. Top left corner of build sheet. June 16th. Your body tag should have a code 06C for 3rd week of June on it. The blue sticker has 06-71 for June of 1971.
  9. Congratulations on your purchase! As mentioned, no publications that are Monte Carlo specific. Chevrolet by the numbers has some information. Also our evolving resources section has a good amount of info to decode your car. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/resourcespage/
  10. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1112786/1970-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/?aa_id=565486-0 $46,200 with buyer premium. The black on black with buckets certainly helped the sale price. Needs a little TLC/cleaning and some corrections if the new owner is concerned about factory correct stuff.
  11. Looking at the comments this appears to be an old article with the date being updated to 2024. Some comments are from 3 years ago.
  12. Their values seem outdated. Those SS454 prices would be right 5 years ago but not now. I was considering selling my 71 SS this year but would just keep it at those prices. I turned down $50k USD for it in 2022..
  13. To buy the covers I suggest Legendary Interiors or CARS Inc as mentioned. They will take a long time as they make them after you order them so be prepared to wait. I got my cloth seat covers from Legendary and very happy with the quality. They look like my originals. I have seen CARS Inc ones too and they look good.
  14. Week. For example, here’s one of mine. 43rd week of 2015
  15. I need to get some buddies over to put the hood and bumper on before I take it out. Not sure when that will happen yet as I’m into my busy season at work. There’s a couple minor leaks I have figure out and deal with first as well. I’ve been sick this weekend so haven’t been in the garage since Friday.
  16. The 3rd, 4th and 5th numbers of the VIN would be different for a Chevelle. It doesn’t make sense that someone would take a 454 and matching 4-speed out of a Chevelle and try to sell it as a Monte as there’s less value. I do notice the VIN looks a little odd. Notice here how the 110092 is stamped on a different angle from the other part of the VIN. Has the photo been altered? Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I would certainly want better quality photos of all the stampings. I have questions.
  17. The VIN checks out on the car, engine and trans. The only thing I can’t see is the CKR engine suffix code. It looks like CRT which would be a 454 for a Chevelle. Am I seeing that correctly?
  18. 9th week of 2010 if I’m reading that correctly. At 14 years old there is certainly a risk. A member had an old BFG come apart on the front of his 72 Monte on the way to the Western Meet one year. It did a lot of damage to the car.
  19. She runs! IMG_2239.mov
  20. My Grandpa had a 59 Olds Ninety Eight 2-door. Cool cars.
  21. As others have stated, for the long lower rocker trim use the Auveco clips. They work great.
  22. Yes! Lets add add another West Coast member to the mix! Maybe your car will be ready for the Western Meet in September 😉

Welcome! This is a great group here.
  24. It’s all assembled except for the distributor and spark plugs. Just waiting to schedule a time for the engine builder to come by and help with the first startup. The suspense is killing me. Days feel like weeks at this point 🤣.
