  1. I’m not eligible since you have to drive the Monte to the meet to get that award
  2. Here is a map of where the 60+ members are coming from for this meet.
  3. Saw this on Facebook. It has the notched out area to fit on the upper portion of the rear panel. Rare piece.
  4. Some great images in the video to help me correctly detail the engine since I have it out.
  5. KWick Vehicle Transport. Great guy and a member of the FGMCC. I know a few members who have used his services with great results. He has both open or enclosed trailer options. I would trust Kevin with my car. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083012508218&mibextid=2JQ9oc
  6. I have seen this many times but still watch it almost every time someone posts it.
  7. Sometimes the dealers would install vinyl tops like that.

    Hello

I poured some maple syrup on top of the hearer box so it smells like Canada when the heat is turned on. 🤣😂

    Hello

Yes, that’s it. Jim flew out here and drove it 1,700 miles home.

    Hello

It is the best driving Monte I’ve ever owned. 🙂

    Hello

Welcome! Tell us about your current Monte. We like photos too 🙂
  12. My engine (L48 300hp 350 4-barrel) casting number is 3970014. In the By the Numbers book it states this was in a couple 1970-71 Camaros and some 1972 cars but not much is known. The Monte stamping would typically be 3970010. My engine had never been out of the car and the date codes all make sense. Cast date code Sep 27, 1969 (I 27 9) Stamped build date Oct 1, 1969 (1001) Car build date Oct 14, 1969 (10-14 on build sheet)
  13. I have used 50/50 plain tap water with antifreeze concentrate in my 70 Monte for 27 years and the same radiator the whole time. Over 80,000 miles over that time too. I change the coolant every 3-5 years. No issues. Engine builder recently said the engine looked really good upon disassembly.
  14. If I could take that much time off in June I would do that.
  15. Here’s what was done: Disassemble, hot tank, bore/hone, resize connecting rods, re-re cam bearings, re-re pistons, surface heads, valve grind, valve guides, grind crank, assemble engine Parts: Rod bearings, main bearings, cam bearings, oil pump, pick-up tube, double roller timing set, pistons .020, rings, comp 981 valve springs, gasket set, frost plugs, paint × 2, primer, positive stem seals, hardened spring shims. Milodon reinforced timing cover, lock plate and cam button Upgrades: Hydraulic roller cam and lifters Exhaust valves and hardened exhaust seats
  16. I will paint the water pump and a few other accessories, install them and do a final coat on the whole block before installation. The engine will come to me shrink wrapped but will need to wrap it again after doing the above.

    Weather

36F and raining here in Southern BC today.
  18. I should have it home soon. A few photos from the builder.
  19. That is not an ideal rim for a Monte. An 8.5" wide rim would need more backspacing to fit a Monte properly. For example I have 15x8 with 4" backspacing and 245 tires rub the quarter panel. Your rim will be even further outward and not sure any tire will fit without rubbing unless you jack the rear end up high.
  20. I just changed the one in my 71 454 Monte as I was having fuel issues. The one that I pulled out of the carb had the garter spring but the one I got with the rebuild kit did not. The carb works great now.

I did a little shovelling this morning. About 4”. Got it done in about 40 minutes.
  22. Here's a map of where members are travelling from as of today.
