1970 halo vinyl top

Recommended Posts

These are pictures I took when I pulled the halo trim off the 70. I posted in order but they probably didn’t load in order. Look at the pictures good and you can figure out what part I’m taking a picture of and draw a layout of clip and screw locations. Hopefully this will help.

Belden Speed has trim stud layout diagrams, but apparently not for the Monte vinyl roof. Closest they have is Chevelle, but may still be somewhat useful for approximate spacing dimensions in common areas.

If you’re replacing the vinyl top make sure to paint the trim to match your top. My top was black so note how the trim is partially painted black to match the top. Just a pain in the butt detail that was taught to me by another member. And yes it really makes a difference, and a nice one too.

Yeah, that'll use up a few days of your life that you wish you had back......

It took me about 7 trips to the paint jobber to get the tan paint to match the vinyl top. Hopefully you have a black top.

Ya I know. 71 was white so no match problem. Lol. But there’s a lot of wasted working on cars that I won’t get back.

Dennis, great job documenting the locations for the clips and screws. I’m sure many others will find this helpful in the future. I didn’t see your feet in any pictures either!
