Sam (Bones)
820's were common for '71 402's and 454's, the earliest 049's that "I" have seen are 1973's

Monte7071
My prev 71 had 820 and the 71 LS-5 in the garage also has 820's.
Andy's Auto
Coolness, it I have three sets of them. I plan on losing the Merlins for a set of much better flowing 820s I just bought and although the motor is not original, it is a Jan of 71 LS5 block. wallaby
The 820's are better flowing than the Merlins? I thought the original heads had tiny valves.
Andy's Auto
I just bought a set of 71 820 that are worked to the bone. Intake valves are 2.30 with 1.88 exhaust. The flow work is outstanding. The paperwork says 340 CFM. Never really looked at the Merlins past the name. I honestly get the idea the 049's I took off make more power.
