Decoding Engine ID#, Block and Heads casting #

Recommended Posts

I just find the Engine ID# V0226CRE and Block casting # 3970010, Heads casting# 3927186 I did a google search and it said the engine block casting # was a Late 1969 Corvette 350 4 bolt main High performance motor and the heads casting # said they were camel backs. I just want to know if this information is correct and if so what does it mean? The engine run strong and doesn't somke or burn oil. Any advice on performance upgrades for street/strip driving would greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is what i get from your numbers.

ID# CRE 1970 350, 4 barrel TH350 trans

Block casting# 3970010

3970010....302.....69....4 bolt...Z-28 Camaro

3970010....327.....69....2 bolt...Trucks and industrial

3970010....350...69-80...2 or 4 bolt

So it could have been in a vette but It could be the original engine. Do the numbers before the CRE match your VIN number?

Head 3927186....69-70...302/350......Camel hump,64cc chambers,accessory holes

The could have 1.94/1.50 or 2.02/1.60 valves

These were the codes for the good 70 350

CTB - 350cid 4V w/manual (LT1)

CTC - 350cid 4V w/TH400 (LT1)
