New Custom Air Dam

Recommended Posts

Well,

the former air dam on my Monte started scraping the pavement pretty often. So I removed it and "custom" manufactured a NASCAR type airdam for it. What y'all think?

OK, it's bolted to the radiator crossmember? And what is it made of?

I like it!

I was planning to build one for mine similar to Kevins clone pictures. Yours looks bad [you said a naughty!]. I already have brackets going to the radiator support so I will have to build brackets off the frame.

Andreas,

I like it better than your other one. I think it shows the cars stance much better.

BTW.... You ended your post with "What y'all think?"..... Y'all with a German accent is really neat.

It is made of sheetmetal and some brackets and bolted to the radiator support. Of course, the idea is to direct more air into the radiator for better cooling... smile.gif

Robert,

I want to see you living down here for 5 years and NOT "y'all"ing biggrin.gif

That is very similar to the Bobby Allison Air Dam that I will need to get fabricated.. The difference is its not rounded and chamfered up at an angle. Instead it has sharp corners, and it looks to be unpainted aluminum or silver sheetmetal.

Yes, the Bobby Allison item does not look so well finished. His looked like a mid-race fix for overheat on a hot day. Somebody probably pop riveted a snack tray to the front, and sent him back out!

I like the practical NASCAR-type looks of this one, Andreas. It seems to be more in keeping with the looks of the FGMC bodystyle. Y'all done good!

Too Cool!!

I'm sure it is quite functional in keeping that beast glued to the road when your clicking off triple digit MPH's. But you would never do that! Right?????

Looks great man!!!

Fatso,

that is a standard 71 grille, painted black with a 69(?) Chevelle Bowtie grille emblem...

David,

>100 MPH? Hmmm. lemme think about that... biggrin.gif

My 15 yr old son will be heartbroken over the removal of the old air dam. I like the new one better.
