Dans '70 Z20
Some say should be a Rochester Quadrajet. But I have also heard that Califoria built SS454's came with Holleys like the ones available on LS-6 cars. Anybody have any proof or knowledge of either? Thanks - Dan
wallaby
No proof, just experience. I have had two SS454 cars, both CA emissions equipped. I had a '70 and '71, both with Q-jet.
lastss
The only way to tell for sure is their a code on the protecto-plate that tells which carb was on it from factory.
DaveC
Dan, I'd bet on Rochesters Holleys didn't have the spread bore, and it seems that the factory intakes of the period that were none spread bore were also square port. Which was part of the LS-6 and L-78 packages. Unless, someone has one of the "elusive" LS-6 Monte Carlos I'd say no factory holley on any Monte Carlo. Dans '70 Z20
I have the protect-o-plate. Which number represents the carburetor the car was equipped with when delivered? And how do I know which number represents which carb. Dan

I would be greatly interested in seeing the documentation on these cars.
Guest
I as well would like to see this, and get permission to add the info to the SS page on the site.
Dans '70 Z20
Just emailed name and phone # of this guy to Kevin Wiles (President). This way we don't have 100 people calling. I do not want to piss him off b/c he also sells GM Musle Car parts and I want to stay in good standing. We'll have Kevin look into it and let us know. Guest
Just remember Kevin is pretty tight on time and may have me (Vice President) make the call
