  1. Thanks to all that replied I now it went to a good home and I still will be able to see it on occasions as it was sold to a local family who enjoys the finer things in life like a Monte. Later RJD
  2. Great job so far. I wished i could have done this with my car but time ran out on me. Can't wait to see the end result. Later RJD
  3. Hi all: After 48 years with my 71 SS I sold it. It went to a nice home and will be well cared for. Hopefully the new owner will join this site and report the progress of things he is doing to bring the Monte back to its original glory. I'm getting up in years and when my wife passed away this year the interest in the car was no longer there. It needed some tender loving care which I no longer could provide. I will miss the car but the good news it sold to a family that lives here in town. I have not been here in a while looks like things have changed on the site. I may visit once in a while. As my sign off is always Later RJD

I had a place here in town do my manifolds in ceramic.. They came out great. Just see how long it last. Later RJD
  8. Not a good looker for sure. I do remember the very first 70 SS I saw had the fender skirts. It also had the 390 HP 454 that lasted about 6 weeks before GM dropped the HP. It was on a dealer show room floor and was Red with a Black vinyl roof. I recall the car was also to complete with the Pontiac Grand Prix. Later RJD

  17. Yep I showed my Monte for several years in early 90s First in the Daryl Starbird show in the Mid west then the ISCA shows in the mid west. Done well in the top 20 overall running as Late conservative hardtop. Never had a competing Monte but lots of Camaros. Later RJD
  18. I know my 71SS was built at the leeds plant in late December of 1970. Makes me think maybe they may have built 70s there. Later RJD

Its a nice looking car and it does have several items that are not factory. The 4 speed install looks good. Orbit see no reason to convert as there is a hole there already for the automatic. Later RJD
