  1. The balancer will stop when it hits the timing chain lower gear. The tool will get tight to turn anymore.
  2. Look on eBay under 1970 Chevelle nos, 1970 Monte Carlo nos, 1971 Monte Carlo nos, and 1972 Monte Carlo nos for just a few.
  3. Yes. There is only one line on a stock balancer.
  4. Hey Frank. Here are some pics of "Barn find" I just took. There are a few extra wires for the Chapman lock alarm system. Hope these help.
  5. Not fully Monte related but sorta.... In stock we had a set of weld wheel drag lites. 15x6 and 15x10 with 5 in of back spacing. They have been laying around for years. My son decided he wanted to use them. He just had them powder coated semi black. Why? Well I will tell ya! Lolol. His plans are to use dog dish adapters for the weld wheels and install factory dog dishes on his 69 GTO and the aftermarket rims on that to be installed on the Monte. Now mind you we had the spacers in stock for years and a set of NOS Pontiac hubcaps also in stock. Now we just need to swap the tires from his rally wheels to these.
  6. Hey all! One of todays projects was the changing of the noisy Pete Jackson gear drive for the ole double roller timing chain assy. I made myself obsolete. Lolol. I let/had my son do the swap. Was alot easier because he wanted to. Lololol I shower him some tips and tricks and he did it like he had done hundreds! Car is nice and quiet under the hood now and noisy out the butt! Like it should be!!!! Lolol
  7. And here is a 275/60 r15 on a wheel vintiques 15x8 with 4.5 backspacing with no issues.
  8. Same switch for the 70-72 Monte Carlo.
  9. The tilt column is ez pz. Just take your time with disassembly if you haven't done one before. Some specialty tools make the job easier. Such as the tool to remove the side pivot pins, the installer/remover for the snap ring on the center shaft to get to everything else. Also, tilt the column up to the highest it will go, to relieve most of the tension, use a larger Philips screwdriver and remove the cap/retainer for the tilt column spring.
  10. You shouldn't have to purchase a new flexplate. Although it wouldn't hurt. I use an SFI approved flexplate. Your stock flexplate should have a "dual" bolt pattern for different size/style converters. An SFI flexplate does and it's stronger than a stock one.
  11. Is this the bracket you are trying to show? For the Holley? Ground up, for one has OEM and aftermarket- new. Better off buying a new one. I have a couple but between the purchase price and SHIPPING I would have to ask more than new. Sorry for the truth...
  12. The originals rusted so, yes the new one will also. Either powder coat or a high heat clear of some kind. I think the powder coat would be more durable in the long run.
  13. As promised, My 71 402 "Barn Find" was built/assembled the 2nd week of September. B112688 Your car was built 4,121 after mine. When was the strike? I ask because our 71 402 4speed, numbers matching, engine, trans, rear Monte Carlos engine was built August of 70 but the car was assembled the 3rd week of January 71.
  14. I will check the cowl tag tomorrow. As for the blue decal on the driver's door, it says September of 1970. My 70 SS was built September of 1969. What are the odds? Same month, a year apart.
  15. He's asking for a little higher stall than stock, not a "High stall". Purchase the b&m converter and I guarantee it will feel and act as wallaby said. Trust me, get the GM25 from Hughes and never look back. My son's engine specs out close to yours. And as far as loosing engine braking, he still has it. Although he has 4:10s. "Big Red" has engine braking also with a PTC "high stall" converter with 3:31 gears. Not like a stock converter but you definitely feel it and hear it.
  16. Barn find is mine. Lol and yes, it was assembled at the Baltimore plant.
  17. Alot of people like b&m torque converters. I highly recommend staying away from their converters. The shift improver kit, I recommend. As far as converters for a street car as you described I recommend a converter from Hughes. I have used a few of them in all brands of cars and have not had one failure. I believe the GM25 would be good for your application. My son has it in his 71 Monte Carlo now. Previously it was in his gto convertible that had a 400 poncho. The converter works great! If you were doing something more radical I would recommend PTC. I have this converter in my 70 SS with a 496 and love it. I'm sure you will get alot of different names. I recommend looking into the Hughes. What gears do you have in the rear?
  18. Lol l hope not Paul. Still have to get back to the 71 402 4speed resto. 🤞🤔 I have been changing what is bad on "barn find" to make it reliable to hopefully drive soon. Lol But as you know when you fix one thing something else shows it's cards and snowballs from there. 😤

    Mystery part

Dimmer switch is on the floor. No brackets. The flasher bracket/holder you have pictures mounts to the brake pedal main bracket.
  20. Look above at the post of my 71 402 "barn find" it has factory gauges and the driver's side temp unit is a stud and nut. This Monte was built Sept of 70.
  21. There should be 2 dimples on the fenderwell that need to be drilled out for the valve if they are new fenderwells. This goes for the plastic as well as the steel inner fenderwells.
  22. Okee dokey, here's one to make you go hmmmmm🤔. Doing a few minor things to my son's Monte and happened to see the original temp harness. It has 2 wires a green and a green and white. The car is originally an idiot light car. It's not hooked up because he is using a mechanical temp gauge.
  23. Morning all. Here are pictures of the switches on the barn find.the pass side is one terminal that goes into a connector behind the booster near the fuse block. The driver's side is a bolt on connection and that wire goes into the harness on the driver's fender.
  24. I will check and take pics of "barn find" tomorrow. I believe it is just like Willie's 72. Even though it's a 71 402, it has factory gauges. Except for the cubic inch difference it should be the same as a 71 SS.
