    AC help

I remember using similar stuff back in the day made by 3M, although in the electrical trade there was a similar product made by a company "permabond" where we purchased our duct seal. The Dum Dum..name priceless, right up there with 200mph tape we used in the military. thanks for sharing Murph
  2. Hey Mike I have used this tool with good results. Tool
  3. They grow so darn quick! Six already.. They're are looking precious as ever. You're a lucky man. Now that we have an empty nest, we often kid, that we should have opted for more.
  4. Are we certain that it's even the carburetor? Lots of people tend to pass judgement right away. Although, throwing a kit on it and dipping it in some carb cleaner will do it wonders. Have you put a vacuum gauge on it?
  5. How about the choke pull off diaphragm? It might have a small tear in it an not holding vacuum? (working) On cold startup the choke flap is fully engaged/closed for maximum richness to allow easy cold starting. Once the engine starts, engine vacuum will be applied to the choke pulloff and its plunger will be retracted, opening the choke a little for a less rich mixture to keep engine running properly. The pulloff plunger also controls the secondary air valve opening rate. When wide open throttle (WOT) is applied, the engines manifold vacuum is reduced significantly and the pulloff begins a controlled release of its plunger. This controlled release is what partially controls the opening rate of the secondary air valves.
  6. The old drive angle dilemma...up there with the same dilemma as the ackerman effect.
  7. how close is that to a trailer queen...
  8. Randy, give this a shot. This will get you familiar with the process. Also a heat gun set on low.. can get most of you wrinkles to vanish.
  9. I have always had good luck with a "Sneaky Pete" Sneaky Pete It saves so much labor time.
  10. GOODMARK..industries http://www.dynacorn.com/ The biggest sheet metal suppliers. I have heard that Dynacorn makes everything that Goodmark distributes..Not sure, although there are people here who know. Hope this helps?
  11. That would have been my suggestion.. there's really no easy way.
  12. On the cheap... under $80.00 for wires and distributor ready to go! EBAY I have this very same set-up on my daily driver..have used it now for over two years have not had any problems with it yet. Not even a module replacement.
  13. try (3M™ DI-NOC™, the best carbon fiber vinyl in the industry)
  14. Great write-up! You can't buy repair manuals with as much detail. Well done.
  15. Rockauto.com has issues with the '70 listing. Does not list the w/1-1/8" O.D. for that year. Although if you try '71 or '72 with the 454CID you'll find the listing you're after. The #'s are tricky as well, because of the retaining clips ((Round Snap Ring - C-Clip). Although at one time if memory serves me right, the location of the retaining clips could be installed on the inside or on the (external) grooved area of yoke.. I believe the difference is the style (size) pinion or xmsn yoke. Our pinion yokes use U-Joint Straps, where some of the early applications used U-Joint Bolts To Retain The U-Joint. check the different year MC listing on the Rockauto catalog.
  16. Permatex makes an RTV silicone dissolver it works great at dissolving gaskets. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to try it.

  19. they look upside down to me also?
  20. this is a look at the back of the dash... the metal tabs have to be bent straight in order to remove without damaging. Also they are tacked-in with an adhesive, after years of use it tends to loosen-up a bit. Good luck!
  21. it had something to do with emission control, if I'm not mistaking.. Yep! we in fact learn something new every day. I know I do.
  22. Yes indeed there is a "3 port fuel filter" common to the 350 CID. All of my 70's had one. It is in fact bolted to the head via a metal strap and it has a return line hose. I forget the AC# but I believe the Fram # was G17. Darn it I had to go the extra mile.. AC Part # GF432 Ebay
