  1. Finally got my MSD installed - neatly tucked away from sight. Now I have get rid of the radio buzz its giving me....
  2. Looks great! Do you have the cam specs at .050"? Decide on a carb yet?
  3. Nice photos Cory and Sam - you are setting the bar awfully high for us!!!
  4. Looks great! Good luck!
  5. Question: will they ever include the chrome strip at the bottom? I already have re-pop panels, but need new ones soon The plastic frames stink. Do you have to send in your old metal rails or do they have them? Thanks
  6. Got it, thanks - I replied.......
  7. Kudos to Dennis - you always provide a great description, photos, and willingness to help other club members. I also have been talking about doing this, but while I'm in there, I should get my A/C going too! And while its gutted, the rest of the interior should be refreshed, and do the body mounts, and its also time for paint.....cha-ching!
  8. JLP - I want to see the car some time as I want to do gauges in my dash and A/C.....I'm down in Boca.
  9. Oh man, congrats!!! Did you pull over and have a moment of silence?
  10. Took Big Blue to work today - with all the loose trim flapping in the breeze! It's driving season down here so I have to take advantage of it.
  11. Do you have a 400 core already? Have you considered a local hi-po guy to do the build? Just thinking of warranty issues, shipping, etc. I would stick with the 400 - mine's still going strong after 18 years of "spirited" driving. It was built locally by a sponsor of the drag strip.
  12. Great story! I remember that episode with the Fuego and I was sitting there on the couch with my wife, eyes just welling up when they showed the car to the guy. The emotion turned into anger and disgust when I found out what happened to it years later (I'll save that rant). At any rate, that was an awesome way to complete the restoration!
  13. I'm wondering if you may have better luck selling your setup if you split them up. I'd love the GV but not sure I can scrape up the cash right now... If you part them out, let me know what your asking price is. Regarding the T-56 - they've made a lot of improvements over the years. The Tremec 6060 is a beefier unit that could probably handle your 500hp more reliably. It's based on the T-56.
  14. Awesome launch! Amazing a car with such a long front end can get such air!
  15. ....and timing! Running 12-14 initial and about 34 total, all in be 2500 rpms helped a ton on my first 350 Monte. Vacuum advance, too.
  16. Scott, I've had 2.29 (its true), 2.73, 3.08, 3.31, and 3.73s in different cars. I can totally understand you liking the 2.73 with the wide open spaces out there. I figured I'd put in my 2 cents also. Although a 3.08 gear is a good compromise, I'm wondering if you can get close to that just making a change to a lower profile tire. What tire are you currently running? Going from a 275/60 to a 245/60 is like 1.5 inch height drop - that can be worth like 5 mph highway speed. I have 3.31s now and love them, but when I go to my favorite show every couple months, its a good 1/2 hour highway drive at 3200-3500 rpms at 70-75 mph in the slow lane. You just have to weigh how important that 1/4 mile time is (however often you go to the track) vs comfortable cruising the open road at 80 or so. If cruising is your thing, ask yourself what rpm and speed you are comfortable at and go from there. Like you said, the GV is the solution. I'm in the same boat...one day.
  17. Yeah, the orange vs red-orange (orange-red) went around a year or two ago. When my buddy and I were rebuilding my engine, I wanted the Chevy Orange, but my buddy went ahead and painted it the Orange-Red when I wasn't around, by accident. I got upset at first, but then heard that right around 1971 (unverified), they went to the Orange-Red from the factory, so it may be more correct. I've grown to like it and the differences are not noticeable unless you put them side by side. We used Duplicolor.

The car is a 64 Malibu vert. I'm not big into custom muscle cars (hot rods are a different story), but my jaw just dropped looking at this car - esp when I got on the creeper and checked the undercarriage. No expense was spared. Custom frame with chrome exhaust perfectly routed through the frame crossmembers, 4L80, the finest custom leather interior I've ever seen, Wilwood 14" rotors, and a trunk full of 4 batteries/4amps/4 subs. Total show car, no doubt. Not much GM stuff left on the car!

My buddy is working on this puppy - needs a flywheel and couple of other things. The clip was removed cuz the engine has to come out to get to the flywheel. Not enough room to move the trans back and down with the custom frame and floorpan . It's more impressive with the intercoolers and intake tubes attached! It's a Twin Turbo Ram Jet 502
  20. Ug-ly!!!!!!! But what did it sound like? At least the block it ok....
  21. I read through it last night and there was only 1 tech data that I wasn't sure about. They mentioned other axles ratios were available, but I've never seen this. I've never seen a documented SS that wasn't a 2.56 or 3.31 ratio from the factory. Everything else seemed very accurate.
  22. Mine is a 454 car (W-code), but now has the 502. Yeah, the midnight bronze is different. When I got mine back in 1988, it was black. I painted it blue in 1993 and its ready for another paint job. This is a big decision - my friends say keep the blue, but I really like the the bronze in the pictures above. I still got time to pick cuz I'm broke!
  23. Joseph - yeah, tough to see the true color in that pic. So no vinyl top and dark saddle interior? Sounds very familiar I found these pix a long time ago on the interwebs, and saved them. Not sure if this is exactly Midnight Bronze, but this is what I would shoot for if I were going that route.
