  1. I wanted to be an astronaut...that never happened ๐Ÿ˜„.
  2. Bruce, is this your car? NOTE: I've temporarily opened up the daily posting limit for 'non-members' to keep this discussion in motion, without any delays.
  3. The biggest hit against the car for me? The VIN has it born with a 350 2 bbl, but has a 454. Not a deal breaker by any means, but something to consider at that price point. Not to mention it's a pretty basic optioned car. Basic.... (Rob got to the VIN issue as I was typing, lol). Rob also pointed out enough stuff that for that price, no way. That car will be for sale a long time, I think.
  4. This one? https://www.survivor-cars.com/vehicles/697/1972-chevrolet-monte-carlo
  5. I'll do some searching & see what it says about a 70 TCS system. Edit: From what I can see in the 1970 service manual, it affects the vacuum advance signal to the distributor in the lower forward gears, for emissions purposes (of course, lol). Meaning, it only allows advance in 3rd gear in the TH350/400 auto trans (and reverse), and looks like 3rd & 4th in a manual transmission. If it runs fine now, me personally, I'd leave it as is and save yourself time, money and aggravation to go thru all that to get it working as designed, and then be disappointed when it runs worse. A lot probably depends on the distributor and carb calibrations (original?) and may be set to work good with the TCS in that regard. If it doesn't knock or ping in the lower gears now though without it, that's a good thing. Just my thoughts... (there's a .pdf file to download of the pages if that works for you too) Note: 1971 & 1972 systems were much more involved than a 1970, plus those two years were considerably different from each other as well (at least in the service manual descriptions and diagrams). 1970 TCS system.pdf
  6. What year is your car? I'll look it up to see if there are differences in the 3 years first, before taking a stab at an answer. My first instinct is to not worry about it though....but I'd like to do a little research first.
  7. Shouldn't matter, pretty much the same deal. Like you figured, not too much a big deal. Plenty of info out there on those transmissions too, if you get stuck. Good time to look at the shift forks and syncro brass for wear as well.
  8. FWIW, the place that did my chrome work in Erie, PA fixed a pretty good crack on my grill. Be prepared though, it wasn't cheap to get it chromed.
  9. Hopefully Jim Stead will post here. I remember he had a hinge failure a couple years ago, but don't remember what brand he was using.

It's members only to attend the events. Just like the other FGMCC event related sections, anyone can read them. That's by design. If non-members have access to read all the details, they may learn enough about the event and decide they want to attend & join up as full members. Sorry if that wasn't clear earlier & hopefully it makes sense now. Additionally, if it was for 'members only' to view, we would have listed it under one of those thread sections dedicated to 'Members only'.

Yes Steve, this is a place that we are going to use to put information out there for FGMCC sanctioned mini-meets. Idea being they don't really fit in the other 'EVENT' categories such as Eastern, Western, and Local shows. Prime examples are the Carlisle mini meet in a few months and the Syracuse meet a month after that. As always, all dues-paying members are invited and encouraged to come enjoy the festivities. Due to insurance restrictions, non-members would not be able to assemble with the group at the show field. Easy to remedy though, simply become a full member and enjoy the benefits of membership. Added benefits to attending these meets are usually accompanied by some type of club negotiated hotel rate reduction, as we're going to enjoy this year at Syracuse thanks to C.K. and Rob. Again, this would only be offered to full members. Also added was a link on the Forums 'Event' toolbar to reference this, and dates will be added to the Event Calendar as well. I'll tweak a few things along the way, but this was just to get the ball rolling. Any comments and suggestions are welcome here too.

  13. They were the 70's version of Crocs. I'm guessing you'd be the guy on the left?
  14. LOL, true. They ended up winning a couple minutes into OT. Certainly was an off night for them, considering their record this season was 9-2 going into the game and the other team was 5-6. Still at the top of the division, so playoff bound most likely.
  15. Nope, none at all. You on the other hand, I could see it, as well as Jordache jeans.... and Clogs.
  16. Hmmmm....I own a vette....nah, couldn't be talking about me...I don't own one of those jackets.
  17. No, they been behind nearly all night. Going into overtime right now. (Buffalo Bandits lacrosse game)
  18. Yes, I am. Looks like it's time to turn my attention your way...๐Ÿ‘น
  19. Any chance Kevin will be able to come as well?
  20. That's fantastic! Retirement is great ๐Ÿ‘ Do you want the dates for Syracuse too? ๐Ÿคž
  21. If you have a Fisher Body manual, all the door and body gap specs are in there. There are a couple free ones out there for download if you do a quick search.
  22. Good call. I used to use this pic when people asked about doing A/C work themselves... That's what it costs when you bring it to a real shop after trying to use that crap. Also, I'd tell them to google 'A/C compressor black death'. It explains what happens when the refrigerant absorbs moisture and forms acid, as I mentioned earlier. Example: https://www.brakeandfrontend.com/are-your-customers-a-c-systems-facing-black-death/#:~:text=Black Death happens when moisture, system or damage the compressor. https://www.underhoodservice.com/a-c-update-keeping-the-black-death-at-bay/
