  1. Willie, that's the one he uses to photoshop pics of 'his' car.
  2. Thanks for the info Dale, I updated your profile. Also, thanks for the pics of the cars. I'm pretty partial to 69 Z/28s as well 😁. Your Monte looks great too, would love to see you at the Carlisle meet this year too. Keep in mind, if for some reason you wouldn't have the car ready by then (for whatever reason), it's NOT a requirement to attend with it. A lot of people come without them, and have just as much fun & the group still welcomes you with open arms. Just a thought. Joe T.
  3. Like Aaron said, they can be trouble., but not impossible. I would definitely use some sort of backing plate to pry up from, so you don't just dig into the door panel (as it looks like may be starting to happen on the lower right clip in your above picture). A putty knife and screwdriver will get the job done, work it from both sides slowly until it comes off (or breaks, lol). Luckily, one of my door panels is off right now to show you what I mean. On a side note, welcome to the FGMCC! Second, you mentioned you have a 1970 Monte, what engine/transmission is in the car, and is it a SS? Reason I ask, during the registration process, all the fields must have been checked and every available vehicle type was listed for your profile. I can change it for you, if you let us know. Thank you!
  4. Unless you're really attached to that beat up old sticker, there are quality reproductions that have the correct VIN, date & font. They can be found at the link below. Best bet is to call them up. I got mine from there & completely happy (My sticker was in a little better shape than yours, but still thought it would look better overall with a nice, new sticker.) https://ecsauto.com/collections/general-motors/products/vin-data-decal-1969-72-gm-vehicles Also, like Aaron pointed out, tell them the date to put on the decal will be 06-71.
  5. Good news that you found the problem, Leo. Sometimes it's the simple, but hidden things that cause troubles. And people wonder why I hate working on cars, lol.
  6. Yeah, the jerk actually woke me up with all that yelling.
  7. This link may point you in the right direction, but contact Rob or myself and we'll help you in any way possible if you have trouble. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/membership/joinpage/
  8. Yes, as I stated earlier, and they will clip on the body and work. I still played around and tried to replicate the original clip positions. Unfortunately, trying to remove the original clips to mount on the new seals was just a time consuming exercise in futility. The clips are spring steel, so the tabs are brittle and snap off making it even more frustrating. Plus, they are the only available option at present.
  9. I was 'sleepy Joe' last night. Woke up after my dinner nap, he was on TV so I changed the channel.
  10. I corrected your statement for you Frank
  11. Nothing Monte specific. There are a couple of Chevelle restoration books that I have which do include some Monte specs/numbers. I can get the titles of them if you want. We also have a good amount of info right here on the site in the 'Resources' section. Congratulations on the new purchase and hopefully you'll check in here more often, and also consider becoming a full dues-paying member. Oh, we like pictures here too, so post up some of your new car when you get a chance.
  12. I'm betting they'll pass by our club tent setup. That many Montes in one place is bound to catch their attention.
  13. I've been using that for years, love it. Even though that version is not supported anymore, it does still work on Win 11. This is the replacement for it, though I still use the old version without any issues.: https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu
  14. Assembly manuals show nuts & bolts. Service manuals show the same. Same on my 72 as well.
  15. The outers I picked up from Fusick when I did my car in 2020. They're for the Cutlass as well, but it appears they're a lot cheaper than what Metro is selling them for. Looks like I got them from their ebay store too. I don't know if the ones Metro makes are better/softer than what Fusick sells though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/152659902704 The inners I got from SoffSeal. They're not an exact match for the Monte, but the only thing I could find that even worked. These only have 2 retaining clips vs. the 3 that were on my car. I did try to remove clips from my originals to install on the new seal, but it was a complete P.I.T.A. They will clip on the car as purchased though. The rubber section matched up real well to the originals, and they look/function fine on the car. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SFT-5023 or from the rest of the suppliers: Google search results Note: SS-396 does say they fit 70-72 Chevelle & Monte (despite what I mentioned above about the clips), and they also fit Buick Skylark & GS. .
  16. That's just another service we provide here at the FGMCC! Consider the $25 yearly club dues a 'Co-Pay' of sorts for the procedure. Best 'bang for the buck' out there (pun not intended 😄).
  17. NAPA has good batteries, but I've had the best luck and longevity with Delco batteries.
  18. They made that when you were out...
  19. If you wake up from the colonoscopy with a sore throat too, they should offer dinner as well... 😁
  20. It's listed in their application guide as fitting 70-72 Montes, if you look under the 'Installation & Fitment' heading. Same with Jeg's website. https://rpui.com/-Repair-Parts-1970-72-GM-A-Body-Brake-Distribution-Block-PV07 That being said, it may take some brake line manipulating or fabrication. They don't list the fitting nut sizes anywhere, like the traditional replacement valve for our cars in the below description. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/clp-pv-2?rrec=true
  21. Look at the comments after the article, most are 2-3 years old. Plus I found this thread from 2021. Sounds like you already have that magazine, Rob. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24589-hemmings-1970-1972-chevrolet-monte-carlo-buyers-guide/ To go further, the date on that magazine cover pictured above says 'July 2021', and the date of the online search shows it on the Hemmings site '2021/06/01'.
  22. This was just announced on the FB page for the Syracuse Nationals. (CK found it) https://www.facebook.com/SyracuseNationals/posts/pfbid025f4mtwJErMJfrhzxa2PepmRJcnicByYpfKUdirA97MDm37UCMLgvdDtfQjaMykaYl It's regarding Dave Kindig winning this year's Riddler Award, one of the most prestigious awards a builder can achieve, and that he'll be at Syracuse this year. As mentioned before, reserve your room soon, before we know it, Carlisle will be done, and this will be the next show on the agenda for our club. Please contact C.K about room availability ASAP. This is another show you won't want to miss! The Nationals website, with countdown clock, only 134 days left. https://www.syracusenationals.com/?fbclid=IwAR3iBEVSYBFJgZReuJ1hP8NveNzYcaRmmhoW-1MG2nRkNIb3DF_ezpM7RyE
  23. Reminds me of an old joke... Q: What's the worst part about rectal thermometers? A: The taste. 🤮
  24. Good catch. I'll bring the video borescope camera to Carlisle.
