    ss registry?

Also… am I seeing things? Is that a ‘71 hood ornament? Or is it just pixelation? Not a deal breaker if everything else checks out. But like Dennis mentioned… no air ride tank present nor indication of it being mounted on drivers side inner wheel well (could have been replaced). Does she have the boxed control arms? Shock protector plates? Yes… lots more pix are necessary.

    ss registry?

A couple things: 1 - does the VIN end in 7060? 2 - any update on the existence of a Build Sheet? 3 - it’s an early build Van Nuys car as evidenced by the halo vinyl top. Does she have the chrome moldings under the headlight bezels? 4 - if you wind up buying her, the first thing you need to do is drive to a gas station. Not to fill the tank, but to buy a PINE air freshener… it’ll match the interior - hell, it’ll match the entire car - perfectly as opposed to that blue one currently oozing smell good all over the cabin 🤣🤣
  3. Looks great! And a very fair price in my opinion. Congrats on your purchase and keep the pix coming.

    ss registry?

I agree. That’s a first week of November build with a 25 Oct dated motor. Does she still wear her Forest Green paint and have Dark Green vinyl buckets per the trim tag? Also, she was Van Nuys built, so see if the seller has a Build Sheet to corroborate everything. And like Dennis said, take as many pictures as you can and we’ll do what we can to dissect what’s presented versus what the seller might be saying. That “CRN” is correct for a ‘70 SS 454/360. If you can get under the car, see if the partial VIN is stamped on the pad near the oil filter and if so, if it matches the VIN plate. Check for the trans tag and date stamp on the differential, also. And DEFINITELY check out the “How to tell if it’s an SS” section here within. It’s a treasure trove of facts which will help you authenticate the car. Good luck and keep us posted!
  5. I like to reenact scenes from Goodfellas with my ‘70. “I hit a skunk, Karen. Take the kids back in the house”!
  6. Hey Joe, here’s the stock radio from my ‘70 as photographed by the inspector when he looked over the car prior to purchase. It has white lettering & numbers.
  7. To me, the rustier one has a bigger/taller snorkel opening, lid & body are slightly bigger in diameter and lids have different pattern in how they’re stamped.
  8. She looks great, Wilbur. Looks to be an early build car as she’s got the halo vinyl top and chrome molding strips under the headlights. What’s the trim tag say? And if you absolutely feel the need to molest her, may I suggest the removal of the pin striping on the fenders and quarters 🤢🤮 (unless of course it’s some RPO I’m unaware of - in that case, leave it!). And since she’s Van Nuys built, pop that rest seat out and look for that Build Sheet. Keep us posted!
  9. Gotta make time for family whenever the opportunity allows. Time moves too quickly.
  10. Jamie got anything for your gray hair?
  11. Michael Jackson was rumored to utter the same line on occasion.
  12. And Tesla aptly named their album on which this song appears “Five Man Acoustical Jam”. Not a bad remake in my humble opinion.
  13. Welcome, Wilbur. Lotsa good people here with a bunch of knowledge.
  14. When I picked up my ‘70, I was encouraged to continue using what the previous owners mechanic suggested after he replaced the cam, lifters and rockers: Kendall high zinc. When I bought the ‘71 from Mr. Lyman, I followed his lead with Mobil 1 synthetic and the Eastwood ZDDP oil additive. And I’ve always followed the manufacture’s “mandate” of Mobil 1 synthetic for the ZR-1. Moving forward, I’ve decided to throw caution to the wind and instead dump imported olive oil into all three crankcases. It was on sale at Sam’s Club, so I figured I’d give it a whirl. I’ll report back with my findings.

    Hello ALL

Welcome! * * stay away from Joe and Dennis
  16. Hey Keith, regarding paperwork that you seek… there won’t be a Build Sheet as it’s a Flint-built car. It just sucks that the seller doesn’t have anything else to substantiate it’s authenticity. My gut says run away from this one.
  17. Absolutely.. . I come from a place that takes 🎾🎾busting to a whole ‘nother level. But always in good fun regardless of how dark or politically incorrect it may seem to some. Which is why Joe, Dennis and I have a secret safe word for when skin gets too thin. Dennis always yells out “there”, but all I ever hear is “their”. Not sure why he picked that word. Weird how that works. 🤔
  18. Wow. Both complementary and insulting in the same breath. I guess I’ll take it… after all, a partial win ain’t a total loss. 😂🤣
  19. I believe we’ve been over this before. Words sometimes hurt more than fists, Broseph. Thanks, Rob. The psychological ramifications of bullying obviously mean nothing to someone without a soul. “Ya”. That’s all you got? Geez, dude, I woulda thought you’d dust off your A Game at such a pivotal crossroads. And there ⬆️ it is. Trying to minimize, deflect and assign blame to others. Classic psychopath tactic. Looks like I just added some soul searching and inward reflection to my “To Do” list. Tonight, my heart hurts. 🥺
  20. The fourth sound was a little more annoying,Karen telling me I’m stinking up the house. Yeah, I had a similar sound with similar complaint. “Don’t sit on that couch with those smelly clothes”. As if the funk deposited by the Labrador after taking it over years ago doesn’t exist. 🙄
  21. Appreciate the thought, Steve. However, Mr. Lyman was kind enough to send a couple along as he had extras from when he owned the car. One calendar is from ‘08 and one is from ‘11, and they used the same pic in both. I also obtained the book it was featured in, with Bob sending me another copy of that as well. Took her for a short blast to get everything hot and circulating, came back and made a margarita… and then I ran outta steam. The ‘70 will have to wait a day or so.
  22. Weather looks like upper 60s to lower 70s all week. Just finished brunch and cocktails with the in-laws and figured now is as good a time as any to get at least one of them out of hibernation. If I don’t unwrap the ‘70 today, it will definitely be within the next day or two. IMG_4029.MOV
