  1. Oh yeah, especially in the early 90s before all the fancy ignition and electronics on cars. The old school car thieves would do it the way I described and would be driving away in under a minute. The less experienced would just break a vent window for entry. Two of the immediate telltale signs of a steal… broken vent window and high beams (stuck on high as a result of breaking that column). Throw in a few kids too young to be driving and it was game on.
  2. I was gonna guess a seashell that got stuck between the rotor and pad caused that groove. Put the caliper to your ear and if you hear a combination of the ocean and the highway, you’ll know you’ve found the culprit. Sorry, Aaron … I’m a few bourbons deep.
  3. Outstanding! Love the ton of lights on the tree. Did you by any chance ask Santa for a flatscreen that’ll take advantage of the size of that AV cabinet? A 55-incher would look quite at home on that thing 😉. I’m just sayin’…
  4. In the event the seller forgot to ship the keys, it’s easy enough to punch the door lock with an icepick and then either peel the column and start the car with a flat blade screwdriver or yank the entire ignition with a dent puller once inside. Just kidding! Hope your baby arrives soon!
  5. Welcome Mike! Looks like a very solid car… congrats on the acquisition! I share your pain… I’ve had the only First Gen at the 3 shows that I attended this summer. I look at it as being in an “elite” demographic 🤣😂

    UGH 2021

You just reminded me of something, Joe… Hagrid had the “Cone of Shame” on after getting snipped. Left him to his own devices while we went to a White Sox game and came home to this…
  7. Meh… they coulda used a Shadow Gray Monte if they really wanted sales to blow up 🤣😂

Glad to hear that she seems fine. She part Lab? Full Lab? Either way, for some reason this breed seems to like to eat s#%t they shouldn’t. My dummy ate a good portion of his plastic crate liner… TWICE. Lucky for me, my sister happens to be his vet and lives less than a mile away. No food til he vomited all the pieces out. Just IVs til he was “empty”. There was going to be no hat trick… Stainless steel liner it was 🤣😂. He also likes Mama’s bras 😉 Luckily for him, Hagrid is adorable.
  9. Your stamp is pretty clean. Way nice compared to others I’ve seen. Mine was obviously a Monday or Friday job 😂. Obviously struck at an angle. Obviously by a linesman who had a liquid lunch. At least it’s visible enough to confirm it’s original to the car. I won’t complain…
  10. Yeah, for sure. The “415” throws the whole “Julian Date” thing out the window. Real head-scratcher here.
  11. Sorry, bud. Didn’t mean to rub it in.
  12. After looking at your pictures, I am so glad the dude who rebuilt mine took the time and effort to remove the tag. He was even able to reuse the original rivet when reattaching it.
  13. It’s nice when all the pieces of the puzzle come together and makes sense, isn’t it? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I find another build sheet in my girl when the interior gets ripped apart in the spring. One’s nice, but two would be nicer yet!
  14. Hopefully someone chimes in with some information at some point. When I was trying to decipher all these numbers before I joined you folks here at FGMCC, I almost made the mistake of walking away from purchasing my girl based on not being 100% convinced that it was a legitimate SS. The inspection service alleviated that concern. Here’s those same numbers stamped in my Protect-O-Plate…
  15. I’m re-posting this because I think I got lost with Dan’s earlier comment: Pretty wild stuff. Yep, I see that your car was built and 14 January 70. My girl was born on 22 January. And since your build sheet is so legible, looking at it compared to the one I have, it raises a question to another mystery… Does anyone here know how to decipher the “Options” numbers (in the boxes directly above the “Van Nuys, California” in the bottom-right corner of the build sheet? The “1 3 3 1 3” as shown on your build sheet is also stamped on my Protect-O-Plate. I never noticed it also appears on my build sheet; it’s barely visible until I looked for it after seeing yours. I’ve never seen any literature that explains exactly what these options are. And I am assuming they must besomething reasonably common because I’ve seen the same numbers on other build sheets (if memory serves me correctly).
  16. Ooops! Expand Overdrives comment above (where there is a partial picture of my build sheet), I somehow attached my comment and question directly to his.
  17. PS - even the two number 3’s (which are different) - are the same on both tags.
  18. Ask and you shall receive… I am very curious to see what you decode. My understanding is the 330 is the Julian date of assembly (so 26 November ‘69). Same as your example. But what really piques my interest is that my number (5289) is only eight off of the one you provided (5281). I would love to know how close these two cars might be. Mine was Van Nuys built and the last six digits of the Vin are 1 6 6 0 1 3. Let me know what you come up with, Aaron.
  19. Just noticed that this picture did not post yesterday for some reason… Sorry to leave anybody scratching their head 😂🤣
