  1. So it's actually a "Flintstone" car ?
  2. Are you talking about the transmission crossmember ? Mine is also a bolt in version. Montelishi's Birthday was the 3rd week of January 1970.
  3. Hey Mark, Just from what I've heard at local cruise events, the general opinion is to change all the ignition components if you're upgrading.... That way you're sure to get parts that are made to work together and give you the best results. Less chance of something burning out and damage the rest of the system as well. I'm sure there are different opinions based on personal experiences, but this made sense to me. Scott.
  4. I was refering to what his wife used to stab him to death with..... But that would work too.
  5. With a tire iron ??? Or a really big screwdriver ??
  6. I've been tossing around the idea of using my old T-Type wheels..... They look a lot like the ones on the General Lee, but I'm not sure what colour (if any) I'd paint the inserts.
  7. Just like the mid eighties Buick Regals....... You could order a T-Type with all the fun parts of a Grand National, and in any colour including black...... But the emblems were unique to the G.N. Couple interesting facts about G.N.'s. The computer had a speedometer limiter that the T's didn't, and some insurance companies had very restrictive policies for G.N.s that didn't apply to equally equipped T-Types. Confused the heck out of my agent.
  8. Bacon is pork..... MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM... Bacon.
  9. The corner of a somewhat clean rag works too.
  10. If I remember right, the article was in a Car Craft magazine, or one of those type..... Anyone remember those ?? I remember seeing my first 1970 SS in '84. Sitting at the lights, Black/Black, burpy idle, and the driver looked old enough to have probably purchased an original Model T.
  11. For that more plasticy appearance....
  12. When all else fails, there's always duct tape..... LOL
  13. Neat idea..... And you can custom fit it to the hose. I've tried the pre-made one's, but there's to much spring in them and the hole's to big for the push in clip to hold properly.
  14. I'm just curious..... When I first became interested in Montes.... Back in the late '70's..... I was led to believe that there were only 2 1970 Monte SS's that left the assembly line with manual transmissions. Were the rest dealer installs or am I just mis informed ?
  15. Bacon and Waffles...... The whole family at Mom's house when she was still around. Still do the bacon and waffles.
  16. Hi Rob, When I first got Montelishi she had a set of Rapidfire #2's in aluminum heads. I'm not sure how long they had been there, but they were pretty fouled and you could smell the unburnt gas at the tailpipes. Could have just been the carb settings, but they seemed rated a little hot for cruising and I did notice a temp. drop when sitting at the lights after I switched them out. Went with NGKs, mostly because they're shorter and give better clearance on the headers.
  17. Quick question.... Would not using the original gear indicator on a four speed automatic also create issues ? Caulder said he's installed a 700r4, but is still using a three speed indicator. Just a thought.
  18. If I'd know the weather was going to be this mild, I'd have left Montelishi unwrapped and on the road. But she's probably safer not being out in public.
  19. There might be a set..... At the bottom of the trunk.... Buried under all those toys....
  20. MERRY CHRISTMAS......Anyone got a set of booster cables ??? lol
  21. Found mine at an Auto Value..... Might be a Canada only thing, but they only cost $18.00 Can. per set.
  22. Hey Ken, Best to take a good, close look at it in person..... A pretty paint job can hide a lot of sins. Best of luck. Scott.
  23. I don't believe you can get them in original factory colours any longer.... You'll have to get some paint mixed to match.
  24. Hi Dan, If I read you correctly, you've replaced the original basic dash with a newer basic one ? Is it an aftermarket piece or one you got from another car (of a different year) ? Did you also replace the printed circuit board ? To me, it sounds like you've crossed up or shorted something on the circuit board. Maybe it's just pressed against something that's re routing where the electricity to the wrong light. Could also be that you've gotten one from a different year........ My understanding is that there are slight differences between them and that might be the issue. Just a couple thoughts.... I'm sure someone has more experience at this, but it may be somewhere to start. Welcome to the club, you'll find it's a great place to solve many "Monte" mysteries.... Scott.
  25. That's what I was thinking.............. The picture looked O.K. But there wasn't much to strip. Originally an Oshawa car in Antique Green with Jade interior, any panel that looked usable was bondo, all the glass was broken, and the interior was pieced together from a few different other cars. (Lots of "PMC" stuff.) Not the original engine, but did have a smog type Q-jet and H.E.I. distributor, and the dash looked like whoever was at it ran out of patience with the screws. Bumpers were pretzeled and rusted, (but I did manage to salvage the 1970 signal lights from them. And the bezels) It did have most of the factory 8.2" differential, with the exception of the right side wheel hub, that was snapped off and in the trunk...... And the top edge of the otherwise perfect grill was snapped off. Guess the last owner got tired of getting his fingers caught ???? Someone did scoop the Knight, though. All in all, I think she was finished. R.I.P.
