Thanks. Here is the code on the can for the metallic blue we picked. The difference with the light on and off is not as drastic as the photos imply but it does really help define the subtle body lines.

Everyone, Thanks for all the kind words. Not sure if I can reply directly to a comment or not but have an album full of good stuff to post up here. Would the best way be to share progress of the build in stages, i.e the purchase and what to look for, the tear down, frame restoration, body work, engine work etc….) or should I start a forum just for the car build as a whole? Thanks James! Pops had a ‘66 Chevelle SS with a 396 in blue, he painted my ‘72 Fleetside blue, my sisters ‘67 Mustang blue so there’s a trend on what gets painted in his garage LOL. My 2019 SS 1LE next to Sally, my sisters ‘67.

Hey Andy, She was originally Mulsanne Blue. Cloth buckets with vinyl rear bench. Thought they were replaced but I guess you could order or buy that combo. From everything I was able to gather online and by judging the stock parts on her, believe everything else is factory as well As far as the NEW color, I wanted to go with a grey because that’s it he only way I have known her but after hours with a light gun and color catalogs, we found an awesome metallic blue that will highlight her curves and it drastically changes in the light/dark. She’s just waiting for us to finish up prepping the doors and fenders then it’s time to shoot. -Jr.

Morning, Just joined FGMC and wanted to introduce myself. My name is JR and I am a Bay Area native. I purchased a 1972 Monte Carlo a little over a year ago as a project car for my father to have fun with. He was debating retirement and after my mother passed, I wanted to make sure he had something to keep him busy. Growing up he would do body work and paint as a side gig and a hobby. Unfortunately, after stripping all the primer off our Monte, it was worth less than scrap price. I’m talking even the trunk divide was held to the body by fiberglass and glue. The previous owner sold a great story about how he drove it once a week and got it from the original owner but it became clear that he/they spent all their time covering up and fiberglassing in all the missing metalwork. It did however come with a box of original documents from the original owner that showed just how loved the car was. We couldn’t let it be treated the way she had been so our build went from just get her running and have a cruiser to rebuild and update. Though, like most projects, she’s over budget and behind schedule she will be one of a kind. She’s definitely given my pops a new passion as he has taken to the web and reached back out to old friends to dust off his skills. That to me is worth every penny 10x over. I’ve had a few Camaros and a 72 short bed so I am new to the Monte Carlo world but it has been so nice to see the community this car has created.
