  1. That is my question also. It appears that the vinyl is dealer installed but still the vinyl top code is on the body tag! No evidence under the vinyl that there was any other vinyl top trim on the roof ever.
  2. The vinyl top on my 71 looked exactly like the one on Shnalla's car. There was a chrome strip which ran from one rain gutter below the rear window to the other side rain gutter. The vinyl went all the way to the gutters...
  3. My 71 had the exact same Vinyl top (vinyl without the trim all the way to the rails and down the A-pillar). It also has the vinyl top code on the body tag. When I removed the top, there was no indication of ever having the vinyl top trim before... I have seen at least one other Monte at a show which had the same type of Vinyl Top.... Could they have delivered Montes to the dealers without a top for dealer installation? Sounds weird...

    The wider the better?
  7. 4 foot won't cut it. I have seen people use at least a 6 foot extension...
  8. It is I important that you use the Prep and ready It converts the rust into phosphates. If you then seal it off with Por 15, it should be good for quite a while I did a few rusty spots on my Monte about 10 years ago with that approach and they are still the same as the day I treated them...
  9. Wow, that is a lot of work to add the stock rear electric windows. I bought the aftermarket kit from Electric Life for the rear windows and it bolted right in...
  10. Check out the protouring.com website. Swapping a LS engine into a classic musle car is now a standard procedure and many companies make kits to make this easy nowadays... Also, there are plenty of twin turbo LS engines out there, just check out Nelson Racing Engines for work-of-art engines for many $$$$$ Plenty of room in the engine compartment of a Monte to do this....

  12. If I had a budget of $8k for an engine, this one would go into my Monte: LS376/525HP They also have a carburated version, if you don't want to mess with EFI
  13. I have a 454 HO in my Monte... Love it....
  14. With the coilovers, you don't change the shocks (unless they are adjustable), you change the position of the coil spring on the coilover shock. This changes the ride height to some extend...
  15. Sure thing... The Ridetech Select are nice cause they let you chose between sporty and cushy with the flip of a switch...
  16. I have them and I love them! If I were doing it again, I would chose the ridetech select coil overs, though....
