  1. Welcome Scott !! Now that’s a great friend too !! We would love to meet you and see your Monte on the Showfield at the 2024 GM Nationals at Carlisle PA. All the info is posted in the Forums.
  2. It depends on what your needs and wants are. Like it was said earlier, open vs enclosed, steel vs aluminum? Open trailer, 18 foot deck minimum. Enclosed, 20 foot floor minimum, without cabinets. Our Monte’s are 17’2” long. What are you using to tow it with? Is it the vehicle capable, tongue weight and vehicle manufacturers load capacity? Gas vs diesel? 1500 vs 2500 vs 3500?? I have been looking at trailers recently too. Most used trailers are selling for top dollar, at or almost the price they paid for it when it was new, and somewhere between 10 to 20 or more years old. These prices are crazy. New, there are stock trailers with basic or various package options, or you can have it built with the options you need or want. If your going with an enclosed trailer I would make sure it has the largest escape door available. It’s a great option to have and use, and a very desirable feature if you sell it down the road. I would also purchase a trailer that is built to specifications under the NTMA, National Trailer Manufacturers Association. Not all trailer Manufacturers build trailers to these manufacturing standards. There will be a sticker next to the trailer VIN (from the NTMA) if was built to their standards. Please research the trailer manufacturer and location where its being manufactured too. Please look at some of the online trailer forums regarding this. A lot to think about regarding the choice of the proper trailer for yourself.
  3. Hopefully I will join you both next year at the Adirondack Nationals in 2024. It’s on the bucket list of events and I would like to do it sooner than later. A great show and event for sure !!!
  4. There are some valuation tools out there to help you figure out what you Monte is worth. Hagerty Insurance has one, or whichever insurance company you currently use for your Monte may have one too. It also depends on the current market, how you decide to market your vehicle, with detailed photos, videos, documentation, selling it online thru various commercial dealer websites, EBay Motors, Facebook Marketplace, thru a broker, or selling it privately. I believe that having a recent well documented appraisal with current valuation and sources to back it up, will greatly help you to know the value and to be fair in selling your Monte or any classic vehicle. It all comes down to what someone is willing to pay for it.
  5. Welcome Kevin. We’re glad your part of the First Generation Monte Carlo Club. Enjoy it !!
  6. Well another FGMCC Syracuse Nationals Mini Meet is in the books. I guess my praying to the “weather gods” worked. It was forecast to be overcast and rain every day thru the weekend. It did rain heavily on Thursday afternoon but cleared up nicely afterwards. We were blessed with great weather on Friday and a partly cloudy hot day in the 90’s on Saturday, without rain. It rained overnight into Sunday morning and was forecast for intermittent showers during the day. Everyone was heading home and we got thru 2 show days without rain. The ride home, we all got wet. Lots of fun, antics, conversation, camaraderie, lots and lots walking the show, (It’s on just under 400 acres) with over 9000 vehicles in attendance to see, great food vendors of all types, various manufacturers and vendors, swap meet, car corral, numerous various demonstrations and displays, “The Designer’s Dozen”, “Nitro Row”, battery powered RC “No Prep Drag Racing”, live bands, Fireworks display each night, and so much more. We were all on automotive overload. It’s quite an experience to witness and be a part of. Each night we all go out to dinner. Thursday was Dinosaur BBQ, Friday- Pastabilities (fresh homemade pasta specialties), Saturday - Coppertop Tavern (all food is fresh and homemade). Saturday after dinner we went back to the hotel for door prizes, load up our Monte’s. We do enjoy our nightly ice cream, bench racing and each other’s company. We would love to have additional Club members join us and experience this awesome event. Read what your fellow Club members have to say about it. We also signed up 2 new members at this event. I would also like to thank everyone that attended and made the 2023 Syracuse Nationals Mini Meet another great success. I would like to also thank Rob and Bob for their support of this Mini Meet. Looking forward to the next year’s Syracuse Nationals Mini Meet and hopefully seeing you there. Thank you, CK I am awaiting the hotel room pricing and hotel contract for the 2024 Syracuse Nationals. Once I have it, I will post it so you can book your hotel reservations.
  7. No generator necessary. We tapped into a nearby transformer and had electric for charging cellphones and a great high velocity fan for our “Monte tent city”.
  8. It was a bit hazy with an orange glow again here this evening.
