  1. AWESOME - congratulations!!!! Would love to see the article.
  2. While I had previously gotten my copy via subscription, I was at the local Cub store yesterday and saw the magazine on the newsstand so I bought an extra copy to scan (I have to tear it apart to do so). Just thought anyone who hasn't read it would like the opportunity.
  3. Thanks Dennis! I noticed your new guards in the photos you posted earlier with the fall colors. I also picked up a set of perfect NOS rear guards awhile back - your info will certainly help when installing them (not there yet). Thanks again for sharing your experience!!!
  4. That's a mighty fine job of fabricating, Dennis! They look great!
  5. Hi Rodney - I was thinking mostly of the "horseshoe" taillight bezels. On my '70 the inner half of the bezel is painted a semi-flat black (on the section where the screw holes are from the ridge back). The screw heads are also black. Also, the bottoms of the "hockey sticks" on mine were painted black (the longer trim piece on the bottom of the rear valance panel between them is painted black on the bottom too). Not sure if this was true for all years, or unique to '70s. The trim on the valance panel and the "hockey stick" end pieces might not be worth the trouble painting as it is hard to see anyway with the bumper on.
  6. Wonder where they got that number - the current count is right on the website's homepage.
  7. The parts look great, Rodney!!! Were you planning on repainting the areas that were originally black (i.e. the rear pieces), or leaving them as they are? They look so nice I'd be tempted to leave them as is.
  8. You beat me to it! The Hemming's Muscle Machines magazine features a "Buyer's Guide" for the SS 454!!! Very Cool!!!! The featured car is a Green Mist 1970 owned by Leon Smith from Abbottstown, PA. Is he a member? Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Finally (HMM magazine covers the Monte better than most).
  9. I think yours looks great, Willie. You've done a really nice job on it (and the rest of your car from what I can see in the photos). I don't know why the differences in color between yours and mine. Different suppliers? Different materials used in certain batches? Perhaps another member knows?
  10. I hope you are able to get your money back somehow! The shipper bears at least some responsibility IMHO - I've shipped quite a few parts, and I have always packaged them assuming they will be handled roughly. Though in this case "roughly" might not be the right word.
  11. Thanks Dennis! I always enjoy your sharing/documenting the work you do on your cars - always really well-done and informative! A lot of work goes into your write-ups, and they are very much appreciated! Bob
  12. From the June 1970 issue of Friends magazine: While the article tends to "hype" the luxury aspect of the new Monte Carlo, I think it also gives one a sense of how unique the styling was at the time - the car really stood out! The 1970 Camaro also was also a bold move for Chevrolet styling, but it was a half-year introduction and came out later.
  13. Good to hear you're on the mend - will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
