  1. Anyone know if First Gen Monte bushings and the same as 2nd gen Monte's?
  2. When I replace mine again, I will try to go as stock (rubber) as I can. I replaced my entire ft suspension about 32 years ago with urethane bushings. They started to squeak about 6 years later. I would spray them with silicone each year and that helped for a few years but now it's terrible. I don't remember the brand name.
  3. I remember changing the small original hoses at the gas tank. I almost threw away this blue plastic restrictor that was stuck inside of one of the hoses.
  4. I love your engine! Keep the pictures coming, please!
  5. I got in, started the engine and took her for a ride.
  6. Can't believe it's been 51 years already! Good times.......
  7. Looks great! Getting to drive it even just up and down the street helps to get things going. Good luck and take lot's of pictures.
  8. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits-old.html Found this via the GM Heritage Center Web Site and thought it could be of help to some. 1971 has 111 pages! Enjoy!
  9. I haven't looked for tires in years. I know Diamondback https://dbtires.com/product/diamond-back-ss/ can put any size WSW (or red / blue) on just about any tire.
  10. I ordered the rally wheels on my 71 (NON SS) and got Goodyear G70x15 small single WSW. Later I replaced them with GR70x15 Uni-Royal small single WSW. Since April 19, 2007 I have had COOPER 225/70R15 small single WSW. I didn't like the large black letters and found that I could purchase them from DiamondBack tire. We talked on the phone and they said they would grind / sand / polish them all off. Still got them 15 years later! $89.00 each plus $60.00 shipping. This picture is of my original spare.
  11. Years ago when I added the NON-Remote rt matching mirror to my 71, they didn't have a remote one. I do have a problem with my rt mirror, it drops down when the door it shut and needs to be readjusted all the time! I don't remember who I bought it from.
  12. Yes, I still have it! The vacuum diaphragm (round thing on top) did have a leak so I bought a replacement charcoal canister with a new diaphragm. I think the large hose comes from the rear tank area, the small hose on top acts as an on / off switch allowing the fumes stored in this canister to be sucked into the running engine via the hose just below it.
  13. I didn't see what year your Monte is. This is what my 71 looks like. Inside one of the hoses is a small plastic restrictor. When I changed my hoses, I almost threw it out!
  14. Went for our first ride of 2022. All is well. 164,602 miles. Sinclair Sunday I guess.
  15. I think after you remove the door panels you can adjust the lower window stops or even just remove them temporally till your finished. I can't find a picture to show you where they are. 1 or 2 per door? I don't remember but I think 1
  16. Not sure but I think it is the attachment point for the windshield defroster ducts. This is mine from my 71 NO A/C. Seat Belt Warning buzzer.................. Good times!!!
  17. Here is my 71 350. I added an extra snorkel on the left (driver) side since I don't have A/C. I removed the TSC system. I added Cruise Control.

  21. That sounds like what I used years ago in my 71 Monte. Be careful with the shift indicator cable, it's tiny and easy to break.
  22. Rob, that is the best story!! Thanks for this.
