  1. My Moto SB4100 that I own is 9.5 years old. According to Comcast it's running DOCSIS 1.0 and I should be on 2.0 or the new "best" 3.0. My 9 year old DELL is having problems running almost any YOU TUBE that is posted here or anywhere. Where should I start to upgrade my system? Other that a few YOU TUBE vids now and then, I really don't have any issues, perhaps a bit slow in loading programs but I'm not a gamer nor do I download much of anything. My Son in-law noticed the same YOU TUBE issue with his brand new APPLE when he was here last week using my WI-FY access. Thanks, Bruce
  2. Always great to get them running and even better when everything is OK. Sounds great.
  3. Here is a link to an old discussion about three point seat belts. three point belt topic Here are some pictures of when I did my conversion. Pictures of Morris three point belts Bruce
  4. Great information, thanks! I'm 6' 0" and built like Santa. My smaller "sport" steering wheel is all I need at this point to keep me behind the wheel. Bruce
  5. If freon is leaking out, it won't take long at all till it no longer cools the air. I'm assuming your A/C works fine, cold on a hot day? As David said above, was the A/C turned on when this happened? The A/C compressor will also work if the selector is in the defog position so it's not just on when it's in the A/C position. Perhaps you have a dead rat near the exhaust and that's what you smell! kidding
  6. Perhaps a strange question but why a 400 and not a newer overdrive trans like a 2004R or 700R4? Most cars (and trucks) since the mid 80's have had some sort of overdrive. If the 350 is junk and you have a good free 400 or want to drag race and you have a big block, I understand. Personally, when my 350 dies, I'm changing to a 2004R for my stock 350. Bruce
  7. They look great! Nothing better than a fresh paint on rally wheels, well, new tires look great with fresh paint on rally wheels. Bruce
  8. I know 71 was a one piece then 72 changed and I don't know for sure but could the extra vacuum port be a spot for a filter like shown in the 71 drawing above? I have one of these units that I think came off my Dad's 72 350 2BBL and there is only two fittings, not three. Could yours be from a California system? Bruce
  9. "The white single arrow indicates the key cylinder tang that needs to be depressed in order to slide the key cylinder from the column. On some of the 69-72 versions the tab can be covered by flashing and you will need to use a small screwdriver to break the flashing to access the tang." (From the Buick write up) If flashing (excess cast aluminum covering the area your looking for) is covering the area it may be hard to find. Look in the area of the lock cylinder and look at the picture of the removed lock cylinder showing the tab you need to push in.
  10. Going from my old memory, I think there is a very small button that must be pushed in by a paper clip while the key is in the accessory position. The assess hole is under that plate you just removed. Rotate key backwards, push in tab, slide ign lock cyl out. Mat be something on the web that ex-planes it better. Bruce
  11. I would think a fan out of balance would cause a vibration at a certain RPM in all 3 (or 4) gears. It would be a bit of work but remove the fan blade and drive it. It shouldn't overheat if you don't get stuck in traffic. Bruce
  12. What has changed, taking it from running great to missing? Bad tank of gasoline, over revving the engine, sitting all winter. Have you done the basics like looking for a carbon track inside the dist cap and testing or replacing the spark plugs and wires, checking the coil tower for cracks. What isn't stock GM parts? Try (at night when dark) looking under the hood for sparks from the wires to the head or exhaust manifolds. Spray a mist of water on the wires and look (get a second person to help) again for sparks while under load from light brake torquing of the engine (carefully). Over half of my spark plug wires went bad over the winter several years ago. Tested them with an ohm meter and couldn't believe it. Good luck. Bruce
  13. Is it an OEM Chevrolet radio 8 track player? Don't toss it if it is, some people want them. Good luck.
  14. Sorry, I never cut a dash. I have a question for you, what is an "A" track player? At first I assumed you were being funny then I thought, what if you didn't know it was called an 8 (eight) track player. A poor sounding pain in the butt late 60's attempt to replace vinyl records and allow us to take music with us in our cars. A long "one piece" loop of recording tape with 4 different grooves (for lack of a better term) recorded in 2 (two) track or stereo or 2 x 4 = 8 gaining it's name. Then came cassette players, that could be fast forwarded and rewound! Perhaps you just hit the wrong key. Bruce
  15. IMO the best way to make universal blades work better is to get rid of them and find OEM holders.
  16. Wow, this is an old post. I bought standard refills at Wal-Mart, some of you may know of this store. 16" rubber refills made by Pylon. scan # 0 79238 01016 7 also a number 1026 is on the inside of the package. This was shortly after this old post started. Bruce
  17. My 71 350 NO A/C came with side mounts. I believe the side mount was a SS or big block thing starting in 1970 then went mainstream on all our cars in 71 and for many years thereafter. Many tow truck drivers didn't like the side mount because the heads of the bolts were so small their large jumper cables didn't stay on very well. BTW, mine are still original. Rockers (not sure but I think) 1.5 Bruce
  18. Kenny, No, there are others out there that are blessed. BTW I took delivery of my new car just under 40 years ago. I was a senior in high school and paid cash, that I earned delivering the news paper and cutting lawn. $3735.00 out the door!
  19. That's a nice list of recommendations! Now, what's ya going to do? Just kidding. Andreas sure listed a neat one. New to me but I like it if your not trying to stay stock. Bruce
  20. Is your cruise control A/C OEM or aftermarket? Does it work? If it's OEM, do you want to trade for my cable? I added cruise 20 years ago and it still works fine so I have a OEM used 350 THM 350 speedo cable assembly in the basement. Bruce
  21. I was given a modified, small cap GM HEI so it looks like my old points dist but I haven't put it in yet because the old one still runs fine and I have several new sets of points in the glove box. The HEI requires a direct 12 volts, so I would have to run a new wire and all that is more work than I feel like doing. small cap HEI Bruce Dave's Small body HEI site
  22. I was told one out of a Buick Grand national turbo was good but then I don't know about the bell housing bolt pattern, it may not work? I also heard something about the speedo drive, cable vs electronic
  23. Luke, My TSC was disabled in 1971, so unless you want a 100% original car or or an environmentalist who will do anything for clean air, you don't need it hooked up. You should have a vacuum line from the carb (ported spark) "vacuum only after the throttle plates are opened off idle" to the vacuum can on the dist. As to the trans cooler lines, there are two steel lines, one that runs from the trans to the right (passenger) side of the radiator then one out of the rad back to the trans. I don't know where to get cooler lines from, I would call Leo. Leo has almost everything.
  24. On my 71 350 4 BBL with THM 350 trans there is a plug or connector on the right (passenger) side of the trans just above the pan lip area near the cooler lines, that is a control for the TCS (transmission controlled spark) part of an emission device. Other than that, I can't think of any electrical on an original 71 THM 350 trans. Do you know what trans type and or year it is? Perhaps it's a 200 4R overdrive, they have a electrical connection on the left (drivers) side that controls the locking clutch (I think). Good luck. Bruce
